I think mick has hit the nail on the head, gutted to see them go, didn’t like them when we first got them as they seemed a bit boring but seriously got to love them by the end, a stunning loco to work on, , got to move one next week which could possibly be my last move (in Colas livery anyway!)

That looks like the descent of Copy Pit just shy of Portsmouth crossing.

Possibly because they have lots of 70s that are being under utilised and GB made them an offer for the 60s they can't refuse.........

Wow yes it is exactly there, that’s very observant,so I’ll probably seeing more 70’s in the future then,I’ll miss the 60’s though.

And so it begins, the first of the Colas 60s are off to GBRf this week, one of my drivers has collected 2 together in carlisle for their final Colas journey to doncaster and I believe 60087 has made its was to doncaster already

My roster next week, my penultimate one before leaving Colas has me training a GBRf driver on class 60s!

60s have recently restarted hauling the Tunstead to Lostock limestone flow after a period of operation by Freightliner 66/6s and their HIA hoppers. In the first week of DB operation I watched 60062 arrive at Northwich and shunt the train of loaded JEA hoppers back into Tata Chemicals Lostock works on 13th July just after 6pm.

The diagram seems to be Warrington Arpley to Tunstead empty in morning then loaded afternoon Tunstead to Lostock followed by an late evening return to Arpley with the empty JEAs. Still booked for Peak Forest drivers but by routing the wagons via Arpley means they can be maintained there as required.

Good to see them back on 'the hoppers'

Cheers Paul

60087 was running up & down the depot area at Toton this afternoon (around 2pm), with the bodyside doors open, and at one point, the roof panels open. 60056 was also present, on the fuel roads.

There were also 5 GBRF 66's present !! (701, 741, 756, 777, 783)

Cheers,

Phil.

Number 7 has been pilot loco at Westbury for a week or so, it's second week based in the area saw it stretch its legs with a stone working. Yesterday (25/7/18) it worked 7A15 Whatley - Appleford and 7C48 return, pictured here in the last of the usable light at Langley Burrell on the approach to Chippenham with the return leg of the trip. Picture taken from the closed level crossing at Crossing Lane in the village, closure part of the introduction of the HSTs.

Following on from my post showing 60062 today Friday 27th saw 60059 doing the honours on the hoppers running about half an hour late on booked timings but this time in brighter weather.

Seen here drawing forward from Northwich TC ready to clear the point into the works and set back the rake of loaded JEAs

A neat little follow on from Pharrc20's post. While he was photting us, we were photting the bits of Northwich you can't see from the platform! Enjoy.

On the same day as Pharrc20's picture, we're now on the spur to the unloading plant at Lostock with 8Q99, the new headcode for the tedious, drawing forward one wagon at a time, unloading process. The trees are quite close in here, as you can see, giving the spur the feel of a country branch line!

Back inside, with the fan trying it's best to blow some cold air about! Looking back up towards Northwich.

More 'branch line' style stuff in the trees.

Now we jump forward a day to the Saturday train. Still with 059 doing the honours at Lostock.

And finally, a change of scenery (and loco). 60 039 'Dove Holes' at Brightside, Sheffield with 6M52, the empty Attercliffe box wagons.

Cheers Jamesb, it really is overgrown down the spur into the works. No hoppers today Thursday typical and been to Peak Forest as well. 60039 was stabled on the Up sidings keeping out of the GBRf/VR manoeuvres lol.

Any reason why they haven't yet picked up the spare JEA yet and taken it to Arpley?

Cheers Paul

No problem. I hope the pics were of some interest. Not sure why the JEA is still there to be honest. I'll have to ask next time I'm there.

60 039 is currently at Attercliffe with me. It's been the favoured engine on this job this week!

Ok cheers I just wondered now the wagons are routed via Arpley for maintenance they might have taken it away unless its wheelsets and bearing preclude that.

Off to pastures new.  Former Colas and now GBRf 60085 heads west along the Calder Valley approaching Brighouse with 0Z60, 11.23 Doncaster Down Decoy GBRF to Tuebrook Sidings GBRF, on 14th August 2018.

ex Colas, now GB 60085 stabled at Tuebrook Sidings, Edge Hill, Liverpool

Notice "COLAS" has been removed - but can't help wondering why no-one got hold of a suitably sized GB to make GB Railfreight.
