I can understand why nobody's posting.... it may only be about 12C outside, but in the sunshine I've done tons of gardening! And I've been into the bunker and had a storage rearrangement under the subframe.

No modelling, yet, but does it really matter? I'm sure the plastikard and evostik can wait a few more hours!!

A friend Gordon used to drive on the Rading Basingstoke SR service and later drove on the WSR so some obviously enjoyed it. Me I can claim to having Driven King Edward 1, 9681, the Cadbury tank and Dolgoch. Plus a 9inch gauge one at Colwell. I could include my Taliesin but its 16mm still good fun though.

Look forward to seeing the Castle, Rob. Although it's not an S&C beast, I'll be buying one under the Rule 1/Railtour pretense!

As for the modelling - well, socialising took over this evening so that's a day without progress. Who cares?!!

Indeed!

(this engine crew certainly get around...!)

Note. WR pics done under suffrance.  You have to keep the punters 'appy, that's wot I say.

Brunel?  Who was Brunel?  Churchward....  ?   heard the name somewhere. Wasn't he someone that trained at Darlington?

Rob, Polly will love you for your "reluctance" to photograph "God's Wonderful Railway".... Lol.

Nice Castle though - I want one!

I've got a couple of hours of Physics tuition to dish out, then hope to get cracking with the facing on the branch bridge.

Thought my ears were burning.  Brunel?  One of his last projects (now an ancient monument) was a mile up the road from 81C aka Great West Road  (a 4mm version).

But I do like the photo Rob.  Thanks for posting... :sungum:

My goodness, what a dead thread today! And not a single post in the Lounge since yesterday!

Anyway, nothing exciting to report. An hour, at most, of bridge work - so no significant process. Hopefully more will happen tomorrow.

I have re-stocked with 20kg of plaster, so that'll keep me going for a while!!

I've got nothing to report today either. I've been out since seven this morning and now desperately trying to catch up on the threads I follow.

Duncan

Hi Duncan.

I don't think it'll take you long to catch up - very little on the go. Was it the Taunton member's day this weekend?

Jeff

It's taken me two hours to catch up, especialy some of the non lunester threads.

To be honest, I haven't taken any notice of the members day as I couldn't afford to attend anyway. :O

Should liven up later when Lord Bodgit surfaces later. :jester:

I think I'm just going to relax tonight ready for another working week (job searching) and if the hours are acceptable, hopefully get some modelling done.

I'm currently eating a "Yum Yum".

That sounds very deep and philosophical, Peter.....

What is a "Yum, Yum" ??

Duncan: Good luck with the job search and the modelling!

I hope to have done something interesting by tomorrow evening...though what that might be is yet to be ascertained. Maybe eat a Yum Yum!!

Thankyou for the photo. There should be a law against single-tracking of national monuments though.

Also you may be interested to know that I have had an itch to buy a Hall class...    it must be some kind of disease, wanting to model a successful competent engine which did most of the things a Riddles Standard 5MT could do.  The latter is my all-time favorite engine, with Britannias second and Duchesses 3rd..    but I suppose there is a case for modelling old old designs...

How do you 'dish out' physics?  This terminology suggests a deep subliminal desire to eat yum yums....  are you growing suffiecient fresh veges in your garden?

Ah, Rob - so you ARE a man of taste, after all!!!

I've 2 of the Bachmann weathered 5MTs - a lovely model in my opinion. As for the engines themselves.... Well, I would have Brits and 9Fs in joint first place (I have 3 of each, with more in the pipeline) and Peppercorn A1/A2s in third.

Oh dear, we may have opened a can of worms!!

Lunesters - can I suggest any further discussion of favourite locos goes into the Lounge?

I dish it out and my students, hopefully, "ingest" it!

If I could carry out a Physics book to food transformation, along the lines of mass-energy ( E = m c2) I'd never have to shop again - my house is infested with the damn things. Maybe I could organise a Physics book - Yum Yum trade-in....

Yum Yum. Noun. A twisted, rope-shaped doughnut covered in sugary icing. I know, I know..... Anyway, need to build up my strength as I'm doing Wriggle & Rhyme with pre-school under 2s tomorrow morning. "Wheels on the bus", "Wind the bobbin up", "The Grand Old Duke of York", "Twinkle, twinkle little star" etc etc

How's this one for size? Neutral enough?

I fell in love with this little beauty - Caledonian Railway 828 at Llangollen last year.  Had to be inventive to get away from operating a layout in the marquee to see it though... 'FOOD Yum yum any one?' worked quite well!

Will there be photos of KL by the time I've done here, I wonder.....?????

Sorry for the lack of action, folks!

As I explained in the Lounge, everything that can conspire to get in the way of modelling is doing so. And since those things involve people standing right in front of you, it's hard to get rid of the "problem".

I am desperate to get the cladding onto the branch bridge - then build the "wing" walls for both bridges. Keep watching this space and you might see something happen over the next few days!

I did call in on the Taunton Members day well worth while.

Don

If I'd been in the vicinity I'd have paid a visit, too. It'd be good to see some of the Forum characters and put faces to the names.

May seem like an obvious question, but how are the roads above the bridge going to

Be made?

Good question, Daniel.

The "road" above the bridges is really more of a glorified farm track. Width-wise, the top of the bridges will have a track:stonewall-aqueduct in approx 1:2 ratio. So the track itself will be around 4cm wide, with small verges.

In the past I've made roads using card and Wills sheeting (eg. cobbles). This time I might just use a plaster skim, roughly smoothed and painted to represent a mud base.
