When the real thing looks like a model

Gotta be a model - there's a bus on a bridge !

Shame the backscene's been printed out of focus.

It's got all the usual N Gauge tricks, hasn't it? No catenary wires visible, nothing weathered, unrealistic bright green grass mat....

On the plus side - the track has been tweaked a bit to look better than N Streamline usually does, the builder has used OO size trees, the join to the backscene is very well done (albeit out of focus in this photo) and he's clearly resisted the temptation to start the sharp hidden curves right under the overbridge - the coaches are still straight at that point.  😁😁🤣🤣🤣👍👍

Complete with Modelu figure.

Not much point in having such a superb figure in the scene - or such detailed locos, if the modeller couldn't be bothered to fit crew in them - spoils the illusion completely!! 🙄🙄😉🤣

Tilt-Shift Photography makes real things look like a model by simulating a limited focal length that a model uses - I wonder if this one, being a night exposure with a vertical background of leaves which no doubt moved during the photo being taken, has done the same thing?

If only they'd put as much effort into weathering the track and ballast as they did the roof to the right.

Very unrealistic, trainset type set-track. Far too clean and uniform.

I had a look at the original file and seems like the lens was the 35mm f1.8 (https://www.jessops.com/p/nikon/af-s-35mm-f-1-8g-dx-lens-76070?gclid=CjwKCAiAjs2bBhACEiwALTBWZUNlAauRsSe_Y7l0TDPl1nff2O6RTkXQaAb1Bh9X5D-yLUflyWuhCBoC6WAQAvD_BwE). No post-processing either. Nigel probably used a tripod. I have known for a while now about the exif tab on Flickr. My first thought was tilt-shift as on many of these, but this turned out not to be so.

Edit: Other lenses and/or from other retailers are available.

This looks like a Hornby R3883 Class 50 50049 'Defiance' In GBRf Livery, passing through Teignmouth Station at night. Probably using the Heljan or Gaugemaster kit for Teignmouth Station? The LED strip lights is a nice touch.

Are you sure that isn't a model? The  paint finish is all wrong for a real one. Nice model of the driver though.
