Nice Layout there Treggyman. love the buildings, very inspirational stuff. What did you use for those fence posts? I drilled holes in many match sticks and threaded fine beadingwire through ours a bit over scale but a pleasing result!

looking forward to seeing more.

Hi Shaun

Thanks for the comment...

Yep....Matchsticks  was my choice....For wire I used copper wire from multistrand cable...Threaded through with a very fine needle....

Edit...For some reason two posts got added together,Don't know why

Hi All

Well another show weekend over.....

Brown fizzy liquid in hand....Tea cooked & eaten.......

A big thanks to all at Hayle Model Railway club for putting on such an enjoyable show & for all being so welcoming & helpfull.....Thanks very much.

Well the traverser got sorted....Yesterday I moved one of the trestles to the end & it didn't seem to make much difference,so I didn't bother moving the other one...

However my son persuaded me to move the other one & it seemed to sort the sagging problem out....A bit of bracing to fit & the problem will be sorted....

A couple more of the track joins were resoldered to get a better alignment & the layout ran trouble free apart from one or two 'coupling height' problems which can be easily sorted....Basicly NEM pockets on different manufacturers products varying in height with Kadees,& tension lock.

A few pics....

Hi B954673

Some cracking pictures there.....Hides the fact that it's not yet finished....

Glad you were able to run some of your stock.....It makes it much more fun when it's your train you're driving!!!!

All I've got to do is weather my stock to your standard now & finish the layout.

No pressure on you, but May will come round awful quick!?!?!?!

Cheers

Hello Treggyman, great looking layout! I was wondering what voltage the strip lights are you have on the layout.

Cheerz

Wummyock

Hi Wummyock

Thanks for the comment.

The striplights are 240volt.

I initially tried 12volt kitchen spotlights powered by separate transformers.

I used 3 per transformer as recommended but found that even with high diameter mains cable the distance from the transformers to the lights caused considerable power drop & even caused melting of the plug & socket joints between the two parts of the lighting pelmet....A considerable fire risk ,so I reverted to mains power.

The whole purpose of the 12v system in the first place was so that no mains electricity would be anywhere but in the powerbox, but the only way to get the transformers to work safely would be to mount them on the lighting pelmet....If power was there safer & easier to use cheap mains ministriplights.

Cheers Bill

Hi Reece

Thanks for posting those cracking pictures.....

A very nice selection....

A lot of weathering/detailing of stock is necessary.....

I'm sure the long winter evenings will see progress.

Thanks again

Cheers Bill

Looking great

David

Hi David

Thanks for the comment....Greatly appreciated

Looks great, what will the level  crossing gates be half barriers or gates? Don't worry about the destinations on the dmu,s in the late blue era at Aylesbury we could board trains for Bedford,Doncaster ,Hendon and various points west!

Hi Imsforever

Thanks for the comment.

As far as I am aware the crossing was at that time,& still is protected by full width barriers which is what I plan to model.

I would like them to be working, but I'm not sure about the 'Skirts' if thats what they are called....

Getting a series of fine 'wires' forming these 'skirts'to rise & fall correctly might be a challenge!!!!

The 3 car 108 only arrived on the Friday morning...I'd been after one for ages but didn't want to pay the price they were going for....

This one was in my range & arrived on the Friday lunch time....So no time to change anything.....Ran sweet as a nut though.

Cheers Bill

Cracking layout! I enjoy your no nonsense get on with it approach. Do you find that commiting to exhibitions gets more done?

Hi Sasquatch

Thanks for the comment,much appreciated.

AS regards commiting to an exhibition I think you could call that an understatement!!!!

It does not always do much for the enjoyment side though as sometimes I found I was working on the layout because I felt I had to rather than because I wanted to.

Thanks again

Cheers Bill
