Its the film of the book! 🤪

Yes, but not every documentary does a good job of a book.

I scored zero. You could add "Ridden on a British Rail train pulled by a steam engine" and I'd still score zero.

Now I feel old.

I scored 1 merely because I never rented videos from anyone!

However, can I claim a minus 1 for accessing bulletin boards by dial up 300 baud modem to balance that out?

Better still, how many of those do you still do! I count 6...

I got 5. I could also add "Used a computer in the days before Windows" and "Watched TV in black and white because that's all there was".

10 and 13

Never used blockbusters as they were absolute cack.

Been in one twice, both times the answer was no.

Not rented a tape since i left Gloucestershire. In 1989.

The second no was in late 90s.

Still do a few others as my portable music player is by Sony, and i do own a car with ICE.

In text only on a green display, using a 300 baud modem under a 700 series phone

-1 for each of these

  • Using paper tape or punched card to program a computer
  • Writing software in assembler
  • Getting excited by the first 16MHz 80286 computer with 1Mb of RAM
  • Networking computers with co-axial cable.
  • Using a 1970's 20Mb SCSI hard drive that weighs 10Kg as a doorstop
  • Still having eight-inch floppy discs

More please!

My earliest computer use was a device with only stacks & registers and 2 x hexadecimal LED displays and some push buttons.

How about recording Radio Caroline onto a reel to reel tape. I wish I had kept that it would've been a historical item now.

(Fortunately I had a radio capable of good steady reception.)

I remember a visit to Martlesham Research Centre with my dad when it opened and seeing large format stiff discs in use

I scored four, never had a Walkman or Boombox and I never rented a video from Blockbuster or accessed the internet by dial up.

Four for me - on a regular basis.

Zero per the "never" - I've done all 20.

Perhaps those of you who baulk at "Blockbuster" can substitute "corner video rental". I still have a Blockbuster card somewhere. There is still a Blockbuster Video extant. It is here in Oregon but about three hours drive from here.
