What static grass do you use, it looks a similar colour to my hanging basket liner. All the static grass I have is much greener. Al. Hi Al, the static grass is Javis summer mix and autumn mix, I combine them in equal measures mixed together. Brambles are made from the Morrisons pan scourers (shown in the Flockage Kit Picture). an easy way to make them, lay a scourer on a flat surface and attack it with a saw blade, then a spray of paint from a rattle can. Glue the brambles in place with pva, and spray with hair spray and then sprinkle with coarse turf (burnt grass), another spray wih hairspray and then a scraping of yellow pastel chalk just to give some highlights. Next the long grass, I use field grass, this is to long to use in the static grass gun, put some pva glue down not to big an area at a time,then pull some out of the packet keeping it nice and straight, holding the end of it between thumb and index finger and the grass cut at a slight diagonal, by doing this you will give some variation in height to the grass. still holding the grass between your fingers hold it verticaly over the glue about 10mm above it and let it gently drop from your fingers repeat this till you have covered the glue. Next a sprinkle of the fine turf light green over the area followed by a scraping of the brown pastel chalk. Now comes the really exiting bit, Get Your Balloon Time, take the balloon that a grown up has blown up for you, and rub it vigorously against your jumper to create a static charge, then pass it over the grass to make it stand up in the direction that you want. Heres some pictures that might explain it better, when you get into the swing of it,it is quite quick. Hi Al, I must agree that it looks blue, it must be the lighting or lack of it, as it has been sprayed with a dusting of grey and a dusting of black from a rattle can. It does look dark grey in reality. At the moment I only have a 5' strip light over the baseboard and that is set at the far left end, so it does through up some some problems at the right hand end when trying to take pictures. I hope to redress this in the future. All this Blueage, blackage and sprayage, applied to a bit of a kitchen scrubber [which it might be observed, has already suffered at the hands of a bit of a rough evening! ] - when put together with the baloonage assited erectage - and all for the sake of a quickie bit of gorse getting laid .... - could make a person wonder if there isn't a touch of oldage involved ....... .. .. The fencing is the Ratio lineside fencing posts that Ii have used before for Westerham and Brasted. the first thing to do when you open the packet, is find the coil of nylon that comes with the posts and chuck it in the bin, next ease the markings on the posts open with a razor saw. I use cotton, to string the fencing which is secured in the grooves on the posts with some gelled superglue. When all is secured the posts are painted a grey brown colour and the cotton a rusty sort of colour. The long grass is just a continuation of the same process as explained in the last post. I found that by putting the posts in first makes it a lot easier to landscape the grass up to them, rather than try to make holes through the grass for the posts and then try to thread the cotton afterwards. I put together a "flock staticizer" like yours last year, but didn't cover the bare crocodile clip holding the earthing nail. Your ability to turn some pan scrubber and hairspray into something that transports me back there in an instant, and to buzzy summer days in that part of the world, is quite remarkable.
