RMweb Premium D.Platt Posted December 6, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 6, 2022 I find it sad now when going into Manchester and looking across at the old red bank sidings. But other people might be happy because it now looks like a forest.

In this view there are several SR vans, a couple of LMS BGs (or is one of them a 6-wheeler?), one LMS CCT and what looks to me like a GWR syphon towards the rear. Ironically, there are no ex-LNER vehicles even though some were still operational in 1977.
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted January 3, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2023 A proper parcels train. Ideally, no two adjacent vehicles should be from the same railway, but if this is unavoidable they should not be of the same type, but if this is unavoidable they should not be of the same livery. Alternating vehicles should be Southern Railway PMVs, CCTs, PLVs, Van Cs, Van Bs, or GLVs with Ashford tri-radial rooves. At least one BZ, LMS or LNE and preferably both, and one LMS 6-wheeler wooden bodied This is the joy of NPCCS in the BR period, the pooled vehicles providing incredible variety and, in the case of the wooden bodied ones, impentetrable liveries. They were often found in the less-frequented parts of big stations, platforms with double numbers that were equally derelict and atmospheric; wonderful stuff 9

RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted January 5, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 5, 2023 Where, then? I agree it doesn't look like the Fens. and it's not Ely in Cardiff, as the SWML is double track at that point and doesn't look like that, and I don't know any other Elys. 5 C
The original Flickr caption says Clay Cross and it's part of a set by the same photographer at the same location on the same date. I don't know the area itself, but it certainly looks more like Derbyshire. 2
