Received my 6mm wheels through the post today from the 2mm shop. I've fitted them to the VBA van and it certainly makes a difference to the height. Although not quite as high as the 37 but the body of the 37 is a little high anyway.

Here's a few photos. What do you think?

Good morning,

Well, it's been almost a month since I updated this thread so thought I would add what little progress I have made in the last four weeks.

I've managed to get the windows on the front of the pub filed to size and the windows and doors glued into position and they fit really nicely. there's a tiny bit of filling here and there just to finish them off but I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

As I clearly cannot count, I seem to have not ordered enough windows  :banghead: so I'll need to get a few more made up.

I've also made a start on the base where the pub will sit. Some off cuts of wood to the right height were sourced from my stash in the garage and then a small piece of 3mm ply was then cut to shape and glued on top.

And here is the current progress on the pub with one of sides glued on. To the right on the front face you can probably make out a blunder as the knife slipped when I was cutting out one of the windows and left a mark down the side. I have now filled this and sanded smooth so once painted it shouldn't show.

This weekend I plan to make a start on the roof and the two other sides.

Here is my wall of inspiration! :imsohappy:

A bit more progress this afternoon on the pub. It's now got three sides and a roof! I'm unsure as where the windows and doors are situated to the rear of the pub so I may just go with a plain back unless anyone can remember how it was to the rear in the 1980's.

Here's some photos anyway.

Jez, can you actually see the back when it is in place on the layout? If you can't see it at all then just leave it as plain plastic sheet. If you can "sort of" see it but only at an oblique angle by craning your neck then make it a plain wall with no doors or windows.

The rear may be seen, like you say if you crane your neck round. However I'm a sucker for "it's got to be right even if it can't be seen". Maybe I'll let this one go and just go for a plain back. I'm going to get the roof pitch done and then think on it again.

Good evening,

Another hour or so was spent on the pub this evening and its coming together quite nicely. The roof was finished and a little filling and smoothing was required just to finish off the roof joins. I have decided to use scale scenes roof tile sheets for the slate tiling as I feel it will give an effective finish with a little additional weathering.

The next job however will be the chimney stacks.

Here are the latest progress shots.

Today I booked a night in the Royal Hotel at Par for a future trip.

However we were drinking Sussex ales tonight.

Sounds good mate. I've planned a family trip to Devon in June so I'll be swooping down to Par one morning to take some photos and catch the down "beds".

Best regards,

Jeremy

Hi Roger,

i very much look forward to it. I visited the St Austell brewery on my first visit to Cornwall and really enjoyed the beer produced there. A favourite is the "Clouded Yellow" which isn't available apart from the brewery itself. However a pub close to me serves a cracking pint of Proper Job and I shall be popping there after work tomorrow!

Best regards,

Jeremy
