i believe (not heard anything offical) they are for the midlands RHTT circuit

That's abit of a shame in some ways as they'll get that nice livery that suits them so well absolutely plastered in filth.

Still, its all good work that keeps them employed, that's the main thing.

Jim,

Great and evocative shots once again. You really have to consider a book on the modern image from a drivers perspective - I for one have seen far worse images between hard covers! It would be interesting to see how many of your fans on here agree with me! Please do give it some consideration; if you worry about the 'text' input, many of the railway publishing specialists have 'ghost' writers available for collaboration. You really aught to give it some serious thought!

Kind regards,

Jock.

thanks for the idea jock but not for me im afraid, my reporting of my photos normally just amounts to 'pendolino', 'some units', '56', i dont know whats going where and why most of the time i just snap away!!

i've been asked to do a caption for one of my pics going in rail express next month but i cant even remember when i took it or the id of the locos in the shot, luckily i can check the digital stamp for the date!

Your call obviously Jim, my idea simply came about as I was looking back at your thread again and I think the photography looks very professional indeed. I look forward to the next set - there is a very special feeling being 'inside the fence' that I can clearly remember from my early days living in railway accommodation adjoining the shed at Hurlford. The dead loco line, which also had a couple of old guards vans in it, was probably the ultimate kids playground in the fifties!

Keep up the good work,

Kind regards,

Jock.

Jim, The photo of the 56 just coming under the brick bridge - is that Crewe too? Sorry I haven’t been there since about 1961 and didn’t recognize that bridge.

Would it be possible to use your photo in another thread on RMWeb with a credit to you? I posted a link to a very interesting terminus in Buenos Aires and someone criticized the track standard - it was 5’ 6” gauge but due to the long throw lens looked “wonky” (you know what I mean) well, it was better than the track looked in your photo above!

This was the photo: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=494765&nseq=2&favsearch=1

I’ll just add that the “Linea San Martin” was designed and built by the British - look at the signals.

Best, Pete.

it was quite eerie!

walking back from where that pic is taken to the gates at heartlands park its hard to imagine all the trains built on the site as most of it is now just wasteland

(for those who dont know heartlands park is the old metrocammel works)

similarly looking down onto the site of the now flattened LDV van factory is quite sad!

got a weekend in london bridge coming up now, just about to head off to bescot to collect my train (70810) and work it to didcot but i'm going to back cab it from there to acton and go off to lodge

photo updates will no doubt appear when i get home on monday!

Did my mechanical signalling maintenance training on that patch 47 years ago, anything but eerie then. Derailments averaging around 5 per week, but Roy 'Stacker' Steadman was driving the Jocko at No.4 Box in those days. Learnt how to re-rail a wagon using an 08, two chains and several big pieces of wood and metal there.

Another weekend in london, working in london bridge tomorrow so a free day today so here is the west end theatre report!

Just been to see dirty rotten scoundrels in the savoy theatre, WOW, what a fantastic show, very funny indeed, robert lindsey in the lead role but no rufus hound as support but still funny

Well recommended if you are looking for a funny non offensive comedy, a few swears but quite mild, nothing compared to book of mormon, had the chance of going to see that again tonight but i've opted for 'Wicked' instead, not sure what i'll make of it but the reviews look good, i could have got a ticket for 'war horse' but i'm feeling like i need a laugh this evening rather than seeing a deep thought provoking show!

Hereby ends the theatre watch......

Oh go on then, heres a train for you, my loco from last night bescot to didcot (and back cab to acton!)
