RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted April 11, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 11, 2017 just realised ive been with colas for 4 years this week, the longest with any company ive worked for, looking back to the first few pages of this thread you can see just how much the company has diversified and expanded in the 4 years ive been with them, if you'd have said to me back then that i'd be driving 67s again after chiltern i wouldnt have believed you, similarly colas running class 60s and 70s would have been "platform end wibble", and 37s for that matter! its certainly changed in the time ive been here, my work has expanded considerably with doing some of the IM work, geographically im still all over the place, again 4 years ago i wouldn't have imagined id have driven the west highland at one end of the coutry and east suffolk line to lowestoft over the other side, i thought i'd just be doing the logs and sinfin tanks but how wrong i was, it didnt take long to be involved in the likes of the coal to ratcliffe, chiltern chord at bicester, crossrail etc personally i have gone from being a driver to a principal driver with a number of drivers under me, im now an instructor and assessor all since starting with colas all of which i never had the chance to achieve at other companies heres to another 4 years
Gordon A
What is also very noticeable in your pictures is how clean Colas keep their engines. An indication to an outsider of old good fashioned pride within the company. Keep up with the pictures please. Afroal05
Jim, I've followed this thread for a while but never posted on it before. Congratulations on your four years at Colas and all that you've accomplished and thanks for the fantastic pictures and an insight into the actual happenings of the railway (I work in a railway administrative role so it's all somewhat of a paper exercise sometimes.) It's taken a long time to get through 163 pages of pictures and info but it's great, here's to another four years indeed! Alex

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted April 21, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 21, 2017 Some from last night/this morning, 37099 again, tyseley to banbury and back to derby Tyseley with the 67s alongside Banbury leg stretch/pnb time, won the jackpot on the vending machine, spotted some polos that looked like they would drop 2 if I selected them, as it happened 3 fell out, never had such fresh breath! Then out south of the station to change ends to head back north Had a good run north, should have sat at Leamington for 1 and 1/2 hours but we kept running only to find there was a possession at water orton towards Tamworth, asked the signaller if I could go via Nuneaton and Leicester which they agreed to so I did, arriving into derby some 2 hours earlier than planned into derby Going via Nuneaton also meant that 'our merl' got within a few miles of barwell this morning as I passed through darkest Leicestershire, chances are the way I was giving it the gun from nuneaton up the bank you will have heard the 37 from barwell! On derby this morning was 37254 freshly painted in colas colours and named 'Cardiff canton' And that was that until tonight, 67s again round 'the dark side'of Birmingham and back to derby

eastwestdivide
Is it Colas now on the Kingsbury/Immingham tanks? By chance I saw a Colas 60 heading north today, and looking it up on RTT, the only likely candidate was that tank train. Only thing was, it had lost its tanks, and was running light.
