What are the yellow painted pieces of metal between the tracks in the photo at Chester please?

Hi,

 

They are lateral resistance plates, used to hold track in alignment as ajwffc said.

 

They are mostly used on tight curves, but can be used on straight track, usually LRPs are only temporary until the track has 'settled in', but a few places they are used permernantly.

 

They consist of large metal plates beneath the ballast either side of the sleeper and push against the ballast to stop the track moving.

from there it was away to bangor to stable for the night, tomorrow its blaenau, warrington and crewe

One from last night at Warrington Bank Quay of Jim's train waiting a route after changing ends on 97302 on 3Q94 Bangor CS - Crewe CS (including a 2 hour+ stop at Rhodee Jn!)

9702 and a UTU in tow.

Evening Jim,

 

Glad to see you at Sandbach this evening on your way back to Crewe tonight. I did get a video of you arriving into Sandbach but I talked over it as you came into Platform 3, not good at all. I got the departure on video and that is on my Flickr account.

Just 3 from yesterday, bescot to princes risborough and back with auto hoppers on a ballast drop

 

66846 one end, unfortunately graffiti attacked

That was the 66 that pushed the 92 and Chinese containers in to the terminal.

one for mick, 37219 has had a bracket to mount RILA equipment fitted to one end

I've only repainted one 37 into Colas colours and it's 219.....
