Barrington
Seen on another forum that Colas have recently added West Burton, Eggborough Power Station, Drax Power Station and Redcar Mineral Terminal to their locations list on TOPS. Have Colas won some new traffic flows recently?

Barrington
I have been a long time lurker on rmweb, and this thread is probably one of my favourites with some excellent photos from Jim. Thanks for taking the time to give us an excellent insight into the work of a Colas driver. In fact, it is this thread that persuaded me to start collecting Colas liveried stock with a view to a Colas themed layout at some stage in the future. It looks like it will be an expensive year with the Hornby 60, Bachmann 70 and the Bachmann 37 and 47 all due in Colas livery. I will be broke but happy lol. Once again, thanks for all the pics and info Jim. It really is appreciated by a lot on here.

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 20, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 20, 2017 (edited) The fog was thick as a bag until gronant then it was glorious! Even sun in Blaenau which is practically unheard of Some phone pics from today Chester Llandudno jn Ready to head off to Blaenau Blaenau Went for a look in the town, as I had an hour and a half to kill! Narrow gauge loco on display Freshly cleared tracks towards trawsfynydd And looking back toward the station 150 unit we had to wait for, both to arrive in Blaenau and then llanrwst before we could get the token Then away to llandudno, unfortunately the sun is on the wrong side in the rest of the pics Bangor, after shunting across from the down to the up Crewe (with swifty11 in the shot!) And eventually into derby, shunt via chaddesden and into the RTC and away to the hotel! A really enjoyable day, nice to have a run along the Conwy valley, gonna get a bit more road learning in down there I recon and get it on my route card (today I was conducted), lots of spotters about including one who was at every passing point and well known decent photo location between llandudno, Blaenau and back to Llandudno, then he was at penmaenmawr and Conwy too! And as usual, that was that! Edited January 20, 2017 by big jim
RMweb Gold 96701 Posted January 20, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2017 Me ! Yes they will be working the fuel oil for Drax, Eggborough, West Burton and Aberthaw power stations. Isn't Aberthaw coal powered? I'm sure I've seen coal trains heading there past my office in Cardiff. https://binged.it/2jHWtrE
RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted January 20, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 20, 2017 Nice pictures Big Jim. 37608 dose not look right with out a head code panel fitted. 37884 I saw at "Phillips st Marsh depot" open day looks far nice at the front. I shall get some flax over this, yes it is a matter of taste, but that me. I apologise if I high jacked this topic Big Jim. Terry

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted January 20, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2017 Isn't Aberthaw coal powered? I'm sure I've seen coal trains heading there past my office in Cardiff. https://binged.it/2jHWtrE Aberthaw B is basically coal fired but currently reportedly burns some biomass as well. The coal fired stations need oil for lighting up the furnaces from cold and I think virtually all of them have had that feature and thus needed an oil supply.
