I can't even fit a 4mm scale layout in the new house, please stop cutting now or I will have to live in a tent in the garden* *The Long Haired Controller thinks this would be a good idea

allan downes
For the attention of Peter Leyland, Gravy Train. Hi Peter. I came accross this site that may be of special interest to you - literally thousands of signal boxes from all regions. Here's the link.RAILWAY SIGNALLING - THE SIGNAL BOX: Home Signal http://www.signalbox.org An introduction to The Signal Box, a comprehensive web site covering the history of railway signalling in the UK and abroad. alant
Allan, Do you know if Colron works OK on Slaters embossed sheet as it does on the Wills sheets? Alan.
allan downes
Allan, Do you know if Colron works OK on Slaters embossed sheet as it does on the Wills sheets? Alan. Yes it does Alan but not to heavy on the thinner sheets - that's all of them by the way - as it can melt through the styrene if it's brushed on too heavy. I have used it with great success on Slaters corrugated sheeting with no problems at all but I would suggest trying it out on a scrap piece first. Here's an example Cheers. Allan. alant
Thanks Allan, I will have a play. I wondered with them being thinner sheets if it would eat through.

RMweb Premium The White Rabbit Posted August 28, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 28, 2014 Thanks Allan, I will have a play. I wondered with them being thinner sheets if it would eat through. I've experimented with Allan's patent colouring method on corrugated Slaters sheets, it didn't produce holes but did make the sheet want to curl up. It's quite possible I was applying the woodstain inexpertly/too heavy-handedly but I'd suggest you be prepared to weight your sheets down. (No problem in my experience with the thicker Wills sheets). The Boss has been having too much fun (I think he's covered most of the GWR between London and Bristol by now!). Time to throw in a bit of competition and keep him on his toes! This and the diesel depot are so sharp and tidy...very impressive. cheers, Iain
