Isn't that Cleeve rather than South Stoke?  (the line at South Stoke is on embankment)

Yes, you're quite right Mike. The houses in the background are definitely in Cleeve. It was taken, as I'm sure you know, from the bridge that leads down to what was, in my day, Ye Olde Leatherne Bottel (sic) pub. Caption duly changed.

A pub in which I regularly used to drink on a Friday evening - a rather long time ago.  The barman back then was a chap called JIm and he hated the Landlord (Peter something or other) with a sort of venom I have rarely come across.  But great when Peter was out as Jim didn't bother to charge the full price (and sometimes didn't charge at all) for a  round of drinks.

It's still there - but seemingly very considerably changed in purpose

Not a picuture but..I was at Hest Bank today when the Sellafield - Heysham flask train appeared. 37 + flask + flask + 37. It got held at the junction waiting for a northbound train. Once it had the road, it was slowly over the points then full throttle to move the two flasks and rear 37. Sounded superb. Happy day.

Some from near Foxfield last week.

I was in the middle of nowhere at user worked level crossing on a road which only went to a farm. I had my camcorder and microphone set up.  As the second train was approaching along came the only vehicle I saw in the 5 hours I was there, a tractor (of the farming kind) which sat with its engine running as the train approached. So I've got a video clip with the sound of the farm tractor drowning out the sound of the tractor pulling the train.

Makes it sound that despite TWO class 37's, it took a couple of weeks for the train to get from Carlisle to Ais Gill. The wrong kind of leaves, I suppose....  :jester:

Ok, ok...  I know what you meant....

Hat, coat, outski....
