Hello @Rugd1022 do you know which photographic site this photo is from please as I've tried Flickr without any luck when searching for Ernest Godward and I like to try and see what other photos the photographer has taken when a 1980s West Highland Line photo appears.

Regards,

Ian.

11 days after last seeing them, 37401/425 turn up again.

On the BLS charter Derby-Ribblehead.

Seen here passing Wilpshire 27/8/23.

And they eased the throttle open, just as they passed.

I saw them near the start of 'The Garsdale Growler' tour, powering north through the Amber Valley out of Derby:

Thanks,

Jack.

Another new train without any yellow on the ends.......I know the bright LED lights render it unnecessary these days, but........it's just not very.........British 😲😜!!

I am old enough to remember when diesels and electrics were introduced in the late 1950s/early 1960 and none had yellow ends; very British. I realise the yellow blobs were applied for safety reasons but I think the locos looked much better without their yellow blobs!

Hello Ian, I'm afraid I can't remember, it was probably one I came across by accident when looking for something else, as so often happens.

I totally agree it is a safety thing but to relies on look outs to see the light of a train travelling at speed you have to be on top of there game.Yellow warning pane;ls are a good thing and is a very British idea.
