Caught GBRf Class 66 "Harry Beck" 66721 at the stop board at Liverpool Bulk Terminal today with a train load of Biomass bound for Ironbridge Power Station.  There's alot of work going on at the docks at the moment with work started on the new container terminal to take the super ships. Looks like they are reworking the track just after the loading tower at EON where they load the trains with coal or biomass.

Over the wall in European Metal Recycling's yard are some old wagons awaiting their fate . . . . . probably cut up and off to China to be melted down and recycled.

6N70, 05:45, Horsham - Eastleigh.

Interesting in that it came up from Horsham to run round at Redhill rather than Three Bridges then headed back down via Hove. I suppose Three Bridges does get congested htough in the peak periods.

Only 5 autoballsters on it.

66957 undergoing maintenance and 66525 at rest at Midland road earlier today, the depot looked more like a Saturday morning than a Friday with the amount of locomotives on shed also the down sidings were quite full too for a Friday.

No pics of it (I was driving!), but I passed 66538 heading Northbound up the M1 past Chesterfield at lunchtime today.

I do see a few loco's on the back of lorries while out on my travels, but never a 66 before!!

Cheers,

Phil.

Thought it was! You can tell by how smart and clean the yellow cab ends look.

I do think that the cab end repaints on the Freightliner 66s smarten them up a lot. I'm not surprised Freightliner haven't repainted all of their 66s into Powerhaul livery as this would be very costly and it must be far more cost effective to just fully repaint the few 66s that actually need it and just repaint the cab ends on the remainder as this smartens them up for the foreseeable future.

I wish they'd smarten up the cab interiors a bit... ;)
