Did you do a similar thing to create the BSO, please, Andy ? I'd like a couple of BSOTs and can see from your photo that it's not just a case of changing roof vents and internal details on a BCK as I'd hoped.

The thread is here……….

……I used two BSKs it seems…..the pictures of course are gone.

Blimey just noticed it’s from March 2013!

I did try a couple of searches for this this morning but without this result showing, so thankyou.

Even without the photos you can gauge the amount of effort that you put into the project. With the current price of Farish Mk.1s I reckon that I may wait a bit longer and see if Farish oblige with a RTR  BSO(T) as I doubt that I'd find any cheap ones that I'd be willing to make a potential mess off ...we'll see, food for thought, though, thanks.

Regards,

Ian.

Have you got a milk train on your time-table?

Yes Steven. I have a few Dapol milk tanks……..not sure if I’ll keep them as I’ve far too much stock. At worst they will be static in one of the NE bays.

The MK1 BFK has had a squirt of grey primer…..and a bit more filler as a result. I need to reinstate a few details that got lost under the saw blade but otherwise looking good. The vents over the compartments have been removed as these are spaced very differently on the BFK. They will be replaced with good ‘ole track pins in the correct positions.

Had a trip out to the coast today, Sandsend. Had a nice lunch with friends at the Fish Cottage…shame the scorching heat and sunshine hadn’t reached the North Sea coast as there was a sea mist.

On the way home we stopped on the moors for an ice cream…and bagged 37264 working the 1600 from Pickering to Grosmont.

Made a few more lamposts to a different design today, these will be for the back streets. Brass tube and rod with a shade made from an Evergreen plasticard tube and a some 10 thou plasticard. Undercoated then sprayed Desert Sand to give a concrete type finish.

Too much stock?!?! At least you've got a layout to run your stock on! The best I can manage at home is a loop of track on the dining table.

Some more lamp posts cut today, another six of the larger one and seven of the smaller, that should be enough hopefully.

Am at work for the next three days but hoping to get to Pickering over the weekend to see Shirebrook ( other layouts also available ) at the Model Railway show.

NGS meeting yesterday…I arrived somewhat late as our freezer was condemned earlier in the week as beyond economic repair…only 5 years old. The new one was delivered by the Ramones (AO) mid morning. So we were both sadly tracking the vans progress on the Internet. Got some more lamp posts assembled and tidied up the Mk1 BFK ready for painting.

Pickering show today…so I’m off to that while Debbie is Pickling!…. Our massive harvest of cucumbers!

A pleasant drive to Pickering Sunday morning. Star of the show for me was of course Shirebrook, followed by Copper Wort, great buildings.

I remember back in the 70s going to Shirebrook from my relatives in Nottingham. Bus to Nottingham, train to Alfreton and Mansfield Parkway then bus to Shirebrook….then walking the length of a grim looking Pit Village ( very different from Brighton!) to get to the depot. The layout really evokes the grimness of the area and period.

The six larger street lamps got painted today.
The Mk1 BFK has had its roof vents added and roof repainted. Rail grey on the body side is complete, first coats of rail blue going on.

The Mk1 BFK has progressed somewhat…..white lining, yellow band and other sundry decals to add. Yellow bands enroute from Railtec as I didn’t have any. Glazing to reinstate once all the decals are on and the coach is weathered and varnished. Not sure if it’s going to retain B4 bogies or gain some Commonwealths. I’ll check the Mk1 book for what had what. It’s probably going to a LM region coach.

Debbie interrupts her knitting and checks to see if that Mk1 BG is a cop!

Mainline running weekend at Gilling East……probably going back tomorrow after I’ve photographed the pair of class 20s heading to Scarborough on a charter.

What gauge/scale are those trains?

Steven B.

It’s 5 inch gauge……the track is dual to allow 7 inch as well. Well worth a trip, massive set up.

Most Sundays it’s open to have a ride. The mainline weekends are a couple of times a year, plus there was a Diesel weekend too this year…..which I couldn’t get to. Good pub at the bottom of the lane, Fairfax Arms.

A pair of class 20s ran a charter Crewe to Scarborough today, some pictures of it out and back. 20096, 20107 and 47828 trailing.

Outbound at the same location as the Blue Pullman with the return photos taken from an occupation crossing just south of Haxby Gates.

Since acquiring my two T Trak modules they’ve languished in the garage…but today they had a trip into the daylight.

Bare board has been painted brown, ready for scenics and ballasting. I’ve also made a start on the tanks for the line side industry. All will be revealed later…but you see what’s going to appear. There are a lot more tanks and pipe etc to make.
