Not much progress in Laoson Valley recently. In the odd ten minutes I have managed to grab, I have created some greenery.

Sea moss trees and embankment made of corrugated card and covering in emulsion & scatter.

Hopefully get some modelling in over the Christmas break....

Cheers

Thanks for the comments - yew lot are barking mad. I was trying to think of some better tree-based puns but I got stumped. We better leaf it there in case people yet sycamore jokes; although they do seem quite poplar. :mosking:

Belated Happy New Year.

Finally something to report. A bit more progress on the oil terminal.

Trees planted at the end of the terminal sidings and fencing round the side and back.

Access ladders and pipework added to the tanks

A bit of dark gravel on the ground under the pipe runs and round the buildings (the excess needs hoovering once the glue has dried)

Finally with the gantry in position

Few trees at the end make big difference!!

Thanks Neil - I agree, it really help blend the back scene. Plenty more greenery and trees to be added now....

Looks great, coming together nicely.

Thanks!

An couple of hours fencing over the and it's nearly complete. Didn't take any photos as all the fencing was propped up while the glue dried!

Cheers

Cant wait for nexted update Sam... :paint:

Neil, your wish is my command..... ;)

Oil Depot now all fenced in. The fencing looked far too pristine so out came the grime (well actually two parts Rail Match Roof Dirt, one part Sleeper Grime and lots of IPA to make a wash). The unloading/loading gantry also had a grimey wash and looks loads better for it.

Just needs a few warning / flammable liquids & limited clearance signs and the lights to the pump house and portakabin wiring up and the terminal will be finished. I might even celebrate by running a loco or two (it's been a very long while.... :senile:)

Cheers

Just read through this entire thread and you should give yourself a massive pat on the back for everything you've achieved. The Tanker Terminal is something else and I wish I had your patience and ability to build things!

With the Oil Terminal pretty much finished I thought I'd celebrate by having a little running session. Luckily I was on hand with the camera:

Firstly 37428 pulled into Laoson Valley Depot hauling TEAs.

She drew forward and uncoupled from the TEA's

The Laoson Valley shunter then pulled the TEA's back and shunted them into the Oil Terminal

The magnets buried below the ballast make uncoupling a bit easier!

37428 then headed to the shed for a refuel

Meanwhile 97303 arrived with an RHTT set.

Next a freshly topped up 37428 collected the empty TEA's before heading back to the refinery

Finally 37506 brought some engineering wagons in the depot

and shuffled them into (what will become) the P-Way yard

The running session highlighted a couple of issues. A point lever and the GPS light were too close to the track and fouled on a couple of locos. These were duly moved. The bigger problem is the 90 degree curve from the fiddle yard into Laoson is quite tight and caused a few derailments. There is very little I can do to ease the bend so I might try adding a check rail to the inside of the curve.

Anyway - next up on the workbench is a bit of yellow.... Watch this space.

Thanks for dropping by.
