The two houses fitting behind the bridge have been finished and roughly positioned - note they are siting a little high at the moment due to the steps, which need to be cut down.

The windows have been cut out of the pub, and louvred door added for the boiler room in the basement. Then covered in brick sheets, which need to be trimmed down and finished.

The 'steps' and access to the boiler room has been added, but steps and walls will not be added until the brick work on the main building has been painted. Otherwise, I don't tink that I will get in to paint the bricks.

There will be a bank and retaining wall in front, down to the track level where the concrete hut is currently siting.

A little more progress today!

I've been painting the brick walls and making the steps that go down to the boiler room, complete with steps (made from fabricated platicard angle, cut to length and glued in place).

I also roughly profiled the insulation to the scenic contours and will be cutting then painting the retaining walls.

I decided to move the concrete hut to the other side, as looking a little cramped!

Also, made and fitted the windows today, so photos to follow hopefully tommorrow!

All the windows have been finished and the slates on the roof have been fitted - just need to paint them, then add that the gutters etc.

No chance to take any photos today. Will have to wait until next weekend as I won't have time this week.....

Thanks for your comments!

I've been able to get a bit more work completed on the 'pub', but not quite finished yet. Hopefully will get chance at the weekend and will post some more photos.

Although, not that the effect can be seen in the photos, the view down the layout from the viewing end is coming together. the percieved vanishing points certainly seem to be coming together.

The front faces of the foam insulation will be faced with retaining walls, so when these have been painted, the whole area can be glued into place. I don't want to glue the bridge until the retaining walls have been painted, so that I can colour match the stone - much easier to do when both can be studied side by side on the modelling table (i.e. dining table).

I've been making some progress on the pub and retaining walls today.

Should be able to get the retaining walls finished tomorrow and will then hopefully glue everything in position.

On holiday from work over the Christmas holiday, so should be able to get quite a bit completed, plus SWMBO is working tomorrow, so will probably bring Acacia Avenue in doors!

Hi Richard, that's a cracking building, I love the pipework, stunning.

Andy :sungum:

Thanks Andy,

It's coming together slowly!

I've not seen too many models where boiler flue and soil pipe have been included - so thought that would work here! The building is more or less finished ready to glued into place,

I've also painted the retaining walls this morning, so now already to be glued into place on the layout, but the weather here today is dreadful, so don't know if I can be bothered to venture into the garage ???

2015?

Yeah, why not!!!!!

A few photos, showing the beginnings of the shop.

I've decided for the moment not to glue the buildings down until I decide about the interior lighting.

I have a few yellow LED's that can be fitted, but will need room dividers to prevent the light bleeding where I don't want it.

So, something else to ponder for a few days!

In the meantime, I'll continue with the shop. Note, one wall has not been fitted. Getting into the building to fit the windows / doors will need to be completed first, as there is limited space to get in otherwise! The roof will follow once the walls have been completed. The shop is actually based on one that still stands in Barnstaple and was actually a grocers shop that my wife's Grandfather owned many years ago and we have an old photo with him standing in front of the shop with his apron. I'll take a copy and will post on here at a later date.
