I have put a few photos up on the Nod to Brent thread of yesterday's activities, but I'll put more up on separate threads in due course, including the first passenger train to Cattewater yesterday morning for a very long time, plus shots of the Western and Castle specials - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/69664-a-nod-to-brent/page-162

Apparently the maroon GUV in the consist is an aux water tender.

Is it connected by pipe to the loco tender or do they have to pump it into the tender tank hatch?

It is connected otherwise the train would have had to stop to replenish the tender.

I think it is controlled from inside the GUV.

I see 5Z76 approaching from the east; intriguing.

P

5Z76 was ECS from Exeter St. Davids to Dawlish Warren and return.

Maybe it was for training purposes?

5Z76 1424 Exeter St Davids Prem Tran to Exeter St Davids Prem Tran

don't know what premtran is

Prem Tran is a siding between Exeter St Davids Platform 6 and the TMD.  There used to be a building there that housed a company called "Premier Transport" that used rail freight at one point: http://www.simsig.co.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=61&id=37088&Itemid=0

This picture shows the company as Premier Distribution: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stevespears/8479185041/

That siding is used sometimes to stable NR OTP or test equipment, so that is a possibility.

It's official designation is No.1 Road, West Yard. It is one of three Networked Sidings in West Yard, the remainder being part of the FGW area, although Nos 2 & 3 are normally used by FGW only as well. No. 1 road can be used for tampers, units, light locos etc.

Hopefully nobody was injured as this machine made its way along the seawall this afternoon. It seemed to have a will of its own as the operator threw levers it would jolt forward and then stop. Levers again moved and another violent lurch forward and then a stop.

They can be tricky little things to operate and if you can't manage to carefully work two levers at once it does get all jerky but we managed quite well with one in the garden some years back.
