Since no one else appears to have answered the question, there ARE castles in Scotland. There's one in Edinburgh, for one thing.

However Scottish castles tend to differ from English ones, the term is often used to describe a pseudo-fortified house, like the the French term "chateau" or a fortified tower quite in like the English sort. English castles tend to be either the "chateau" variety, or the much older, Norman or early medieval "motte and bailey" style. English castles are often ruined, this is often due to being "slighted" during the Civil War.

So your apparent decision to remove the castle ruins is probably correct

Good evening.  :)

Very nice, Alain. I do like that 37418, one of my favourite locos. And a Pullman service for Loch Vath? You must have some very well-to-do passengers. :sungum:

Keep up the good work. I do enjoy dropping by to catch up with your progress.

Cheers

Dave

Here I am back after a very pleasant week in the Alp for winter sports. A parcel waited for me to the post office. This one contained, among other things, a twin pack of Mk1 coaches. Very interesting. Indeed, it is about a works test train which will be completed with my class 24 (RDB968007) or even other locomotives.

These two cars are weathered and in faded decoration. I like them wery well !

Hi ModuleOO

First thanks for the post on my layout topic, glad you like it.

It obviously led me to your layout topic, and what a layout! I think it is fantastic. I have read if from the start and really like how you have built it up; track plan, scenery detail, signalling, lineside details and rolling stock weathering. All very impressive and a well presented Topic here on RMWeb.

There were so many individual posts I could have 'liked'. You have managed to create a really Scotish feel to the layout.

On thing that is really clever and I did not really notice this until I started watching all your layout videos is that your layout is double sided. Such a imaginative use of space. One question, what size is your baseboard?

Great layout, will follow with interest.

Paul
