Hi Alain

I have only recently joined RMWeb and this is my first effort at commenting so please bare with me. Once I have worked out what I am doing I hope to add details of my own West Highland line project. In answer to your question, the OBA has regularly worked the West Highland line since the early 1980's, they have been used to carry numerous cargos including:

  • southbound paper from Corpach paper mill,
  • northbound logs for delivery to the Corpach paper mill,
  • southbound aluminium produced at the Alcan smelter in Fort William
  • any other general freight usually covered by tarpaulins in either direction

I am sure there are more uses for the OBA but I cannot think of them right now. My only observation about your OBA is that it is far too clean! Invariably the OBA like most wagons is filthy dirty so your weathering skills are required to make the wagon look more prototypical!

One further word of advice, search the internet for pictures of West Highland freight trains. I think it is much easier to understand when you see a picture rather than by reading someone else's written words. I would attach a link but it appears that this capability has been disabled. If you search 'class 37 ardlui freight train' on Google you will get some good examples of freight traffic including OBA's.

Keep up the good work

regards Rob

Here I am back from holidays! As they are not completely ended, I still have a few days to dedicate myself to my favorite hobby. I start again slowly with the putting into service of my last acquisition received just before my departure. It is about my first class 20 ( 20124 ) weathered and sonorised. :maninlove:

Having made the running without load in each direction, I do not have more than to install headcode discs on faces fronts.

As the locomotive will dedicate itself essentially to the trains of freight and mineral, I opted for the configuration " Freight, mineral and ballast".

Here is the result, as I make numerous operations, I cannot detailed more crossbars. I need both couplings for shunting.

Hello,

I registered to the Bachmann collectors Club. I was able to buy the limited serie locomotive class 20172 "Redmire". A very beautiful locomotive. I equipped it with a decoder Lokpilot V4.

Hello and good evening !

Resumption of the do-it-yourself before a session of operation. I am on the last details of the initial specifications. The lighting and the arrangement of the two signal box.

1st part : installation of the lighting (test). On photos, you will see electrics bulbs, but I finally installed LEDs (more diffuse light, and indestructible).

Here is the continuation of my works.

The tests of lightings showed that the roof lets filter the light. It was thus necessary to paint the inside in black.

During the time of drying, I went on the Internet to find photos of the inside of a signal cubicle(garage, dock). Having made my choice, I worked again the photo (contrast, light, size, etc.) with a software of image processing. Then I printed it on some paper photo and cut with a new blade by helping me of a metal ruler.

then i cut a partition from a sheet of strong cardboard. it will serve as support for the photo and will hide the electric cords which feed the LED.
I stuck the photo with some white glue in tube.

I then placed the partition and verified if there was not a difficulty to put the roof. I also proceeded for the second signal box.

I also printed plates with the name of the station to stick them on the signal box.

Once, the inside of the roof dries, I installed the LED. I then installed an operator inside the signal box.

Thank's Johan for your post. I am very flattering by your comment.

This weekend 3 wagons Bachmann joined the rolling park of the layout. The first one is weathered by TMC.
