RMweb Premium Gary H Posted September 19, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 19, 2018 (edited) Looking closely at the front, one of handrails above the tail lights is out of alignment (left hand on the photo). Only 50006 had this arrangement, and it also had a dark roof at this time, so your uid 50 is 'Neptune'. Well ill be dammed! Well spotted!! And just to reinforce the fact- https://wobblewinterwanderings.smugmug.com/Trains/Class-50/i-DNVzh9V/A Edited September 19, 2018 by Gary H

RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted September 23, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 23, 2018 Not sure if Hercules and Defiance were talking to each other properly, but shortly after this they were heading away from Kidderminster bound for Crewe. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55463/2018/09/23/advanced Dave
Iron Horse
Well they seemed fine and dandy when I saw them But I'm no expert......... The first pic is 0Z43 1225 Kidderminster S.V.R. - Crewe approaching Basford Hall Junction just to the south of Crewe Followed by 1Z44 1500 Crewe to London Paddington rolling towards the Newcastle Road crossing in Nantwich. It had just been signal checked and they sounded awesome as they let rip to go through the town. Thanks to all of the guys that work tirelessly keeping these fine machines running so I can just pop out on a Sunday to photograph them.......although I guess I would have been happier on it

Rugd1022
Stone me that looks fabulous - nice ot see it without the headlight! I was sat on 6M67 at Small Heath yesterday when along came 50 007, 50 017, 50 049 and 50 050 on a light engine move, much swapping of horns ensued twixt me and the driver, they looked startlingly good in banger blue, large logo blue and NSE liveries.

eastwestdivide
A couple more off the beaten track. For a while (1983), there was a working for a 50 to come light engine from Saltley to Leicester in the evening, and take a parcels back in the Birmingham direction: And after visiting Doncaster Works, they sometimes worked NE-SW trains back towards home turf. Here at Sheffield in June 1983, with Trans-Pennine and Calder Valley DMUs in the sidings:

Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Smashing, 11 class 50s... What a shame none of them make the proper Hoover noise any more. This video is about the best I've come across of the proper 50 noise, from about 1:30 check out 50011, Centurion. That's how I remember them.
