RMweb Gold Market65 Posted March 30, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 30, 2018 HI, Dave. I like the Midland photos from Skipton. A great set, and thstvlast one of the hybrid DMU is a typical 101 and 104 three car formation. The TSL is a class 104, it has the luggage racks opposite to the toilet, the plain window is the big clue there. NER 104’s were fitted out with them for long distance services. With warmest regards, Rob.

RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted March 31, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 31, 2018 Heading north from Skipton we eventually arrive at Kirkby Stephen. Once again the photos are more recent, mainly taken only about 20 to 25 years ago. Tomorrow's photos will be considerably older. flapland
C24305, had the 156 DMU in the siding hit something. It looks like its covered in a blue tarpaulin closest end to the camera. By the way still love the daily delights of this thread and especially yesterday Britannia on Vans.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted March 31, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 31, 2018 Hi, Dave. I like today's set of photos, and Kirkby Stephen station is always so great to see, and it's looks so good in your photos. It's hard to believe that the 142's are doomed and will all be gone by the end of next year. So C21771 and C21772 will soon be historical and of interest to the railway historian. With warmest regards, Rob.

flapland
Thanks for that. RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted April 1, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 1, 2018 I fear that the loco spotters will be hard pressed today. But lovely photos of trains in the landscape. Back o the L&H, I am afraid that I never liked the fake liveries on its locos, but I have to admit that it was only many years later that I realised that BR was being difficult about current liveries at the time. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted April 1, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2018 Hi, Dave. I like the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway photos, and I always thought the Fairburn tank in CR livery looked very good. The ECML photos are fantastic, The Deltic at Corby Glen, on an up express, in April 1963, in J033, has a Thompson CK as the third carriage along the formation. With warmest regards, Rob. Once again many thanks Mark. C1259 would be the 07.55 Kings X to Bradford. I suspect I took it during the last week in May, when I would not have been working, probably on a weekday as on a Saturday I would not usually have been at High Dyke in the morning. It couldn't have been a day when I was working as I passed there in my car around 8 am on working days. It was only about 10 or 15 minutes from home. Is it me, or is that Deltic running wrong road? If it isn't, the up seems to be lower than the down. High Dyke Class 55 9007 Kings X to Bradford May 73 C1259 Dave It is running on the down line, that view is quite deceptive, the up line is well hidden by the grass. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted April 2, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 2, 2018 Hi, Dave. I like the Scottish photos. A great variety, and in J3918, at Lhanbryde, in August, 1974, the train of up pipes has, I think, after enlarging the photo’, a 24 then a 25. The lead loco’ has no head code box, which I’m sure were fitted to all 25’s. With warmest regards, Rob.

J3339 I'm sure i remember reading somewhere that, at least until the early '80s, 2 or 3 locos were held at Beattock for banking, often being cl.20s In 1975 I went with Coatbridge High School Railway Club to the outdoor study centre at Beattock Summit, which was located in the old school building (now demolished), we spent a week there spotting at the lineside, walking the Wanlockhead branch and visiting Moffat and Carlisle - One evening just before dinner the class 20 banker dropped off the rear of a northbound freight and the driver offered to take us down to Beattock and back up on his next job, unfortunately as he was not sure when that would be we had to decline! Very much an opportunity lost. Jim

David Just to flag up that it might be a pair of class 24s, rather than a 24 and a 25. The last 37 class 24s (D5114 to D5150) were also fitted with headcode panels, rather than discs. D5114 to D5132 were all Scottish allocated throughout.
