RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 1, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2022 Good evening, David. That’s a superb selection of replacement photo’s of Brookmans Park from the 5th March, 1977. In the last photo’, with 47410, on a down express passenger train, you can clearly see the lilac tint to the two cab windows. The latest Morpeth photo’s are an excellent set, with J10521, and a class 108 unit, empty coaching stock, in September, 1989, your Dad has captured a most impressive shot with the layout of the yard clearly to be seen with the deep blue sky setting everything off. With warmest regards, Rob.

RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted November 2, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) Today's replacements are from around Killamarsh taken on a day out in February 1979, almost certainly during half term week. I must have been visiting my parents as I would not have gone there for a day from Essex! I had thought they were taken in January of that year but having looked at diaries it wasn't. Killamarsh is in North Derbyshire but the photos were taken in Yorkshire. I was probably nearer Beighton when I took them. I've just had a quick look and these photos are amongst the very few which survived the problems and sit almost in isolation near the start of the thread, so I think it is still worth reposting them. RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted November 2, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 2, 2022 I thought we would go somewhere a bit different this afternoon. We are now in the Harz in the former East Germany in 1992. My first trip there was in 1991 when British visitors were not very frequent, my car attracted a lot of attention and few of the former cross border roads had been opened. By 1992 things were more organised and everywhere was much busier - you also had to pay in some car parks. The roads had improved a lot. The railway is of course the metre gauge Harzquerbahn. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 2, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2022 Good evening, David. That’s a great set of replacement photo’s of Killamarsh, from a day in February, 1979. The first one of 20032 and an unidentified 20, on an up coal train, on the Midland line, is a superb shot of a typical coal train hauled by two 20’s. The photo’s from the Harz in East Germany, on the 8th and 9th August, 1992, of the metre gauge railway the Harzquerbahn, are a most atmospheric selection, and the first photo’ at Drei Annen Hohne, with 99 7239, on a Wernigerode to Nordhausen service, on the 8th August, 1992, is a most impressive head on photo’ of the engine. With warmest regards, Rob.
35A
C4341 is a lovely image of the two Class 20s, clearly showing 20 032 with the larger cabside windows fitted to certain batches of the class, which allowed easier access for train crew to the (by this time, in this image, removed) tablet-catching equipment, that was formerly fitted in the recess below the cabside window.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 3, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 3, 2022 Good evening, David. That’s a most excellent selection of replacement photo’s of Laindon on the London Tilbury and Southend line. In C3714, with a pway crane carrying a track panel, on the 12 March, 1978, it is interesting to see such work underway. It’s always fascinating to see relaying of track taking place. The black and white photo’s from around Nottingham in the early fifties are full of atmosphere and interest, and all display correctly in black and white with no red to be seen. Now, in the last photo’ at Weekday Cross, with a K2, on a passenger service from Grantham to Nottingham, on the Canal Street Bridge, c1953, that is a city scene that is so long gone, but was so everyday back then. RMweb Premium keefer Posted November 4, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) The cl.101 unit at Healey Mills is actually a final-batch cl.111, identifiable by the destination blind which intrudes into the centre windscreen. Being a 2-car, I think this may be from when 1 engine was removed from each powered car to save on maintenance & costs. The vehicles became DHBS and DHS (H meaning half-power): https://railcar.co.uk/type/class-111/description Edited November 4, 2022 by keefer 3 1

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 4, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 4, 2022 Good evening, David. That’s a fabulous set of replacement photo’s of Healey Mills from 1968 and 1987. In J1276, with 08, D3361, in April, 1968, your Dad has captured a fine view of the 08 as it shunts that rake of wagons. What an excellent lucky dip of photo’s. In J417, at Harrogate, with Brittania class 70033, Charles Dickens, on a Harrogate to Kings Cross service, in the rain, in November, 1965, your Dad has caught a most atmospheric and steamy photo’ which is so nostalgic.
