RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 3, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2010 Yes indeed, it is the bridge at the Tytherington end of Yate Middle loop on the freight-only branch. The offical-looking board beyond the bridge on the single line is the 'Start of One Train Working' board, beyond which trains can only go if the driver is in possession of the One Train Working Staff. Jules
Does your visit to the line mean that it might being seeing some more use? It would be nice to see trains rumbling over the ungated crossing at Iron Acton again, although the days of a 56 on 4-wheel hoppers are long gone
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 4, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 4, 2010 Does your visit to the line mean that it might being seeing some more use? Alas, on this occasion, the visit was for a different purpose... but then again, never say never!
Jules
Shame - I'll have to dig out my pics from the 80's instead!
RMweb Gold 96701 Posted February 4, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 4, 2010 Photos from the Coal Stone Railtour 2007 here. A marvellous trip, now if the guys from Brizzle could be persuaded to run it again................ http://www.railtourinfo.co.uk/photos_bristolcoalstone.html Edited because this twit forgot to add the link
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 7, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2010 OK folks - time to ramp it up a bit again - any takers for this location?
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted February 7, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2010 Would this be around the Long Marston area?
RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted February 7, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2010 Modern day Callow lane! Looking towards the main line, with the chocolate factory siding running off towards the right. Signal box destroyed in 80s along with cottages to make way for a new supermarket that never was built! RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted February 10, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2010 Give us a clue Cap'n! Where be they yonder hills?
Glorious NSE
Certainly is a toughie! I've looked in loads of places & can't find anything that matches, and there isn't much to go on...
eastwestdivide
Sharpness??? looks vaguely Severn/Gloucester area somehow, and Google maps shows some grassy sidings there.
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 10, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2010 I regret to say that the location depicted is not Sharpness!

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted February 10, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2010 Honeybourne.
wollastonblue
A wild stab in the dark here. But is it Honeybourne? As those hills look like the Lenches. Just looked The Stationmaster beat me to it.
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 11, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2010 Honeybourne. Someone knows too much!....
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 11, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2010 With a bit of luck, I'll be able to give you an 'after' photo in a year or so's time, as the redoubling project calls for the complete refurbishment of these sidings as a tamper stabling location and refuge sidings. There will probably be some commensurate rationalisation of sidings at Evesham and Moreton in Marsh as a result, however, but overall, it's a good news story. RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 11, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2010 OK, here's your next one - but be careful, the Captain's been a bit tricky here....
Steadfast
Indeed he has been! Editing photos, whatever next. Claims that yes, it did really run on the S&D? Well the buildings look vaguely Bath is, but I don't think there's been any recent signalling work in this area... jo
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted February 12, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2010 Looks a bit like Stroud but that signal looks rather too new unless replacements have been going on PD The Cap'n is not the only person to have travelled to Honeybourne on 'paid-for excursions' in one of the company's vehicles (but there weren't so many trees back in my days )
ECML180
Probably wrong, but these new signals have materialised around the meadowhall/sheffield area.
Edwin_m
They're appearing all over the place, often retrofitted to existing signal posts without resignalling.
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 12, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2010 Just be careful folks, yes, the Captain has edited out the signal plate, but he's been very tricksey on this one!...
