RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 30, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 30, 2010 I think it's high time you were all subjected to more Captain's mystery photos, so here's a nice easy one to get you started!
RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted January 30, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 30, 2010 It looks like Redruth in Cornwall Terry Happier times.

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 30, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 30, 2010 Well, Redruth is correct! It's a nicely-kept place. OK, here's another one for you, where's this and what kind of traffic does this bit of railway carry?:
Burkitt
Are they china clay dries to the left? In which case, is it china clay traffic that is carried? Paul
RMweb Premium ullypug Posted January 31, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 31, 2010 My first thought was china clay Crugwallins but then maybe it's Moorswater and cement traffic?
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 31, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 31, 2010 Neither clay nor cement is the traffic!
RMweb Premium ullypug Posted February 1, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 1, 2010 In that case Cattewater branch and oil?
Pugsley
Neither clay nor cement is the traffic! Oh, you are a rotter! That is the Fairwater yard headshunt (former Taunton station avoiding line), so carries TRT and HOBC traffic. It does look like clay dries though! I should have added that 'staff are not allowed to enter Kernow Inc. competitions!!'... He's quite right, of course! RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 1, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 1, 2010 Well, here's your next one (and anyone who lives near this place isn't allowed to enter!!! ):
Pugsley
Here's the view looking the other way: I wouldn't have got it from that angle! It was only the 40 steps bridge in the background of the other picture that gave it away. I don't live that near the next one - can I play??? Edit - I'm going to play anyway, Polsloe Bridge, then I'll let someone else have a go!
winterbournecm
It's mightly familiar of the Falmouth branch??? (P.S. I dont live near there).

Edit - I'm going to play anyway, Polsloe Bridge, then I'll let someone else have a go! It definitely bears more than a passing resemblance to Polsloe Bridge (at least 2.5 hours away from me whether I go by car, train, or by aeroplane between the nearest airports to me and it). Glorious NSE
Oooh, oooh, sir!! OK I wasn't allowed to enter that one, i'm just a few minutes walk away! It looks very nice in the snow (although somebody should tell the driver that Barnstaple isn't in that direction! )
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 2, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 2, 2010 A couple of nice views there, Martyn! :icon_thumbsup2: OK then, here's your next one - nice detail showing the top level of a concrete girder type overbridge as well! Jules
That'll be the branch to Tytherington. I think the bridge is the one just off the junction at Yate. The traffic is single file under it, controlled by traffic lights. That's as close as I can get to a proper location
barrowroad
That'll be the branch to Tytherington. I think the bridge is the one just off the junction at Yate. The traffic is single file under it, controlled by traffic lights. That's as close as I can get to a proper location I agree with Jules. It's the bridge over North Road, Yate which carries the Tytherington/ex Thornbury line.

It looks very nice in the snow (although somebody should tell the driver that Barnstaple isn't in that direction! ) Good G**. The last time I was at this location was in 1962/3 and it was double track with nice little Standard 2.6.2's thundering up that bank in the distance. It was the 'stairway to heaven'( i.e. Exmouth Junction Shed!) and those steps; I would probably need the Paramedics if I tried rushing up those these days. Sincerely, 83D exile.
