O.K. Guys, this is what I've done, just as Peter above has suggested, I have a taken a 1950 / 60's track layout and then rationalised it as per the South Devon area with the 2nd main lines lifted and showing where the old Goods sidings would have been in Steam Days.

It still has all the same facilities and Goods run round loops and a head shunt that was the old main line.

Definite thumbs up for the second plan Andrew. Plenty of action and visually appealing in the way it runs diagonally across the board! :fan:

Bill

Possibly by putting in a reverse curve by the signalbox, it'd get away from a too straight-look.The old

CJ Freezer trick.....

I'd also be inclined to join up the goods yard and oil terminal by a connecting line - just have the oil terminal as one siding and the other line as a headshunt for the yard.

Cheers Bill, and very nice idea Peter, Thanks Guys for you input, I've been over to my mate Jeff's (Binney) this evening and playing with his excellent Depot, (its still work in progress) gave me more satisfaction that Bitton did in just running Trains around.

Its an excellent Layout, and only 12FT X 1FT.

Obviously I had to add a touch of Class to it though.

Agreed Duncan!

Not only were they 'blue boxes', they were "Duff's" to boot!!! :) :) :) Ha, ha, ha! Only joking, Andy!

However, in the 80's I did get fed up of them turning up whenever a 'Peak' was hoped for, most disappointing that was, be great to see them again now though.

Love Peter K's plan I must say.

Cheers,

John.

Hi Guys, I have a FINAL PLAN and it WONT BE CHANGED, (much) just 14 Point Motors, Run round in the Platform, think Buxton for the Stabling point but without the Shed, Distribution Warehouse, Oil Depot, Bay siding for DMU / Parcels, Split junction with Track rationalisation.

How long is that bit of layout Andy? I thought you said 12ft however the other day I was playing around with templot doing a plan for my Buxton Low level MD extension which I wanted to get into 6ft (exactly the same space really as your 12ft OO) you seem to have a lot more train length available on your pics than I seemed to have. I could barely get a platform that would hold a 4 coach train and loco with a stabling point as per your plan that would only take a single loco. Very odd.

Hi Cav, The pics shown above cover the 12ft Scenic section available, I could get a 5 coach train in the Platform but only room for 4 plus a Loco in the fiddle yard and for the run round. Also I have left about 6 to 8 inches at the Buffer stops for a road along the end. The long platform runs across the board joint, and the release point set back far enough for the 4 coach run around.

Re the Stabling Yard, the Head Shunt is on the end board but there is two 3 way points feeding the Stabling Sidings making them about 4ft long and finishing about 4 inches short of the Scenic break to allow for a road or similar at that end beyond the sidings. Here is a sketchmatic plan to show the point arrangement that I have used. I was going to save this plan for the new thread but here it is for your guidance. As I said its NOT Buxton, but just think Buxton for the Stabling Point arrangement.

Blimey Andy theres room for a dozen more sidings and at least 20 more points, are you losing it ? hahahahahahahahaha

LESS IS MORE, hahhaha but it may not last, I laid the first 6 points last night all wired with individual droppers ready for connecting up.

Nothing will be done today but I may get a bit more done tomorrow.

Liking that Andy. I always think a "fog" lifts when you have a clear direction in your head. Good luck with this.

Actually I take it back. I was trying to fit the plan into a 5ft long area to allow for a full 180 degree return curve to a rear fiddle yard. It makes sense now. I could easily get what you have in there if t were a foot longer. I know yours isnt buxton but my design was for a buxton low level which turned out remarkable like yours haha
