I was searching for more pictures of Haddenham station but the only half decent one that I could find was this one from a few years earlier which looks bizarrely similar to that other one....

Haddenham (Cambridgeshire)

I'm assuming the station was 'Haddenham Cambs' because Haddenham, the Bucks one was also in LNER territory (albiet joint with the GWR) but I can't think it was that confusing. But on the same thinking, if you caught the train from there to St. Ives were you greeted with a similar sign to avoid confusion with the Cornish version?

Answer to the sign? No!

Definitely the Cambs village. Interesting point, the station building became a Scout hut or similar after closure (I can't remember exactly what it was). The goods shed became the home of a local business; later on they expanded their buildings over virtually the whole site, & I believe the goods shed remained within the larger new building (for a while at least). I drove over that bridge on Thursday and found the business gone, with all the buildings just having been demolished.

Nice one - 31216 (ex-5641) has clearly just acquired its TOPS number but instead of having this applied over the old one on the bodyside like the vast majority of early blue 31s the cabside arrow logo has been overpainted and the new number applied there instead. Presumably like 31304 (ex-5837) & 31408 (ex-5646) which received the same treatment the logo was still carried on the secondman's cabside at the opposite end.

A pair of plodders vice the booked Type 4 on a Padd-Brum-Padd outing...? If so, it'll be Old Oak men on their way home. Mind you it could be a cross-country job.

I'm not really into 31s, but for those of you who are, here are a few of my very amateur photos from the privatisation era...

BR green-liveried 31190 stabled at Doncaster with an infrastructure monitoring train on 27th March 2008.  I didn't note the number of the loco, which I believe is in Fragonset livery.

One last one:

1691907601_31459CerberusYork17-03-2009.jpg.a541e39e5fa3fd18f8783431e09fee2c.jpg

31459 'Cerebus' leads what I believe was a very unusual formation into York on 17th March 2009.  I don't believe NR's HST power cars were ever wired to work in multiple with a 31 so this was probably just a stock movement rather than a top-and-tail operation.

Cheers,

Will
