LNER Models in 4mm

Recommended Posts

Hi Mick,

Here is a photo of my MPD area. i have a ways to go to finish. I still have to scratch build my 4 road engine shed with saw tooth roof. I have the dimensions on the board ready to go. Unfortunately I had the BR stock out this day. I have thought about changing the backscene to either the large photo sheets or just paint them sky blue, but will keep them as they are for now.

Mark

Hello again chaps. Can I just ask if anyone has used an alternative roof (plastic Kirk [?] one supplied) on a Comet Gresley D198/260 Steel Full Brake and if so, what and how? Also any other little additional detailing tips?

I seem to remember Coach, Mr Pulham, Mr Welleans or someone talking about this but just can't find the posts this morning.

Thanks, Phil @ 36E

Twern't me guv. I never built the steel Gresley steel full brake, only the wooden version. If I did I'd have to use the MJT extrusion, as any other is too low a profile.

Thanks Coach. Thought MJT might be an alternative (used on a couple of Gres Sub kits; one a Comet and a Fozzy). I've got a MSE plastic one lurking as well; though I might have a look at that too.

Cheers, Phil

Phil, alternatively a lot of tedious roof and chassis work could be cut out by using a Hornby Gresley as donor for a Gresley full brake. The Sleeping Cars in BR maroon used to be quite cheap.

Yes of course. I have yet to do one of 'your conversions' but this sounds like a great place to start. I'll get some more sides off Geoff and pick up an old Hornby Gresley from Ebay or a show/used bucket in local shop.

Good thing is your comprehensive coverage of your work; an excellent guide.

Many thanks,

Phil @ 36E

A LNER Service/Yard only van using a D&S NER van. I have never seen one modelled before. Based on a picture in Tatlows LNER Wagon book. The book says Green livery but no mention of a shade.

Latest NRM rescue , usual busted / missing bits plus lots of superglue used on broken smoked deflectors to re attach to the Smokebox which I managed to remove with acetone.

The wheels have been replaced as the Eccentric Crank on one sidewas held in place by a nail !! as the screw thread had been stripped.

Hyperion now has a correct repainted BR Non Corridor Tender.

Must say the line up of LNER pacifics looks really good, I wonder if Bulliednutter may have a challanger in the loco collecting and renaming catagory!

Must admit that it is good to see Green LNER locos that aren't the Flying scotsman for a change. Must admit that I don't have a new model Flying scotsman!

Well  there not many Banjo Dome version left to do as it was only the last built that had them.

Columbo, Winsor Lad, Sandwich and Cameronian too go . One big problem is they all used the Non Corridor Tender do I really want to find and repaint another three :boast:

If damaged NRM's and the right tenders appear on ebay at a good price ?????????????????????

Anyway I now need to find a Apple GreenBachmann A2 (body damaged will be OK) for a future conversion to a Thompson A2/2 . Anyone got a spare :O please :stinker:
