Markeg Posted June 24, 2011 Share Posted June 24, 2011 Hi Mick, Here is a photo of my MPD area. i have a ways to go to finish. I still have to scratch build my 4 road engine shed with saw tooth roof. I have the dimensions on the board ready to go. Unfortunately I had the BR stock out this day. I have thought about changing the backscene to either the large photo sheets or just paint them sky blue, but will keep them as they are for now. Can I just ask if anyone has used an alternative roof (plastic Kirk [?] one supplied) on a Comet Gresley D198/260 Steel Full Brake and if so, what and how? Also any other little additional detailing tips? I seem to remember Coach, Mr Pulham, Mr Welleans or someone talking about this but just can't find the posts this morning. I never built the steel Gresley steel full brake, only the wooden version. Based on a picture in Tatlows LNER Wagon book. The book says Green livery but no mention of a shade. micklner Posted September 10, 2011 Author Share Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) Latest NRM rescue , usual busted / missing bits plus lots of superglue used on broken smoked deflectors to re attach to the Smokebox which I managed to remove with acetone. The wheels have been replaced as the Eccentric Crank on one sidewas held in place by a nail !! as the screw thread had been stripped. Hyperion now has a correct repainted BR Non Corridor Tender. My collection of ex NRM A3's from Left to right 2508 Brown Jack, 2507 Singapore, 2506 Salmon Trout, 2503 Firduassi and 2502 Hyperion All have the correct Tender fitted a mixture of Corridor , Non Corridor and ex GNR Versions. Must admit that it is good to see Green LNER locos that aren't the Flying scotsman for a change. Columbo, Winsor Lad, Sandwich and Cameronian too go . One big problem is they all used the Non Corridor Tender do I really want to find and repaint another three If damaged NRM's and the right tenders appear on ebay at a good price ????????????????????? Anyway I now need to find a Apple GreenBachmann A2 (body damaged will be OK) for a future conversion to a Thompson A2/2 . Roof Water Filler details have now been confirmed and are simply pipes on the ends only so will be added at the end of the build.
