coachmann
Mickler, I thought it should carry Kitchen Car and not Restaurant Car.
MikeTrice
Mickler, I thought it should carry Kitchen Car and not Restaurant Car. Official photos show "Restaurant Car". I don't recall ever seeing Kitchen Car in LNER days.
coachmann
I don't recall ever seeing Kitchen Car in LNER days. Come to think of it, I noticed the Kichen Cars were actually unmarked but I wasn't aware they carried Restaurant Car. We live and learn.
micklner
I used the MRJ article building the MJT version by Steve Banks to assist in the build. I can also confirm there is a prototype photo therein of the Kitchen car in the modelled LNER livery cheers
davidw
If you mean the strip above the doors ? Its Microstrip with the corners curved Cheers Thanks
micklner
The new Parkside LNER Horsebox. I have added wire Handrails and Door Handles , MJT Roof Vents and Door Knobs. I will also add Brake Yokes and operating wire for the Brakes prior to painting.
Rob Pulham
That looks a really nice kit Mick. I can't wait until it's released in 7mm scale.
micklner
Awaits varnish , glazing and finished Detail added to underframe
micklner
In use on the postwar LNER, the Hornby L1 has taken a nice picture too
RMweb Premium 31A Posted May 11, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 11, 2011 Very nice work, Mick! I don't really have a use for a horsebox on my layout, but am very tempted by looking at your pictures!
micklner
Latest cheap Ebay rescue job is this very sad looking Bachmann V1/3 Body is basically undamaged , it needs a good clean up some extra detail and a repaint. Chassis works well. BUT someone has filed off the flange from the centre drivers WHY ??!! and a a rear split plastic axle is also required. Hopefully Bachmann will have spares. Has anyone updated one of these ? Will the Loco run ok without the awful pickups/wire on the equally awful Bogie wheels? I cannot seen any reason why not at the moment, before I start cutting. Are the huge Coils springs needed on the bogie wheels too ? or there a better way of springing them please? Is it viable to change the Bogie wheels for Gibsons/Markits? cheers
coachmann
I think that Parkside LNER Horsebox looks really nice, so much so I have just telephoned a mate and ordered one. Not being well up on LNER matters, were these boxes painted plain 'teak' or were they grained?
micklner
Larry Plain Teak livery including ends. I have added some minor detail to the kit as per the Parkside Horsebox thread on here . Cheers for the compliment
Horsetan
...Chassis works well. BUT someone has filed off the flange from the centre drivers WHY ??!! ... Because some people have never really progressed past the 1960s?
the penguin of doom
Has anyone updated one of these ? Will the Loco run ok without the awful pickups/wire on the equally awful Bogie wheels? I cannot seen any reason why not at the moment, before I start cutting. You could try stretching it and making an L1? He heh.....
micklner
You could try stretching it and making an L1? He heh..... Too late the Hornby one is good enough for me Bogie Wheels replaced with Gibsons and pick ups removed without any problems
micklner
More progress . Mould lines cleaned up and gaps filled . New handrails, Lamp irons where needed and extra details added. About to be primed and painted plain Black. It will be a post war V3 with unshaded Yellow Gills San Lettering and Numbers A new set of drivers are on way from Bachmann and a set of Brake rodding which was missing from Loco on purchase. I have now decided to retain the original Bogie wheels and pick ups. I have re wired the Bogies with thinner wire which looks much better than the "Tow Rope" fitted on arrival. Painting the wheel edges has improved their look no end.
micklner
V3 up and running. Awaits a light weathering. Please excuse the Dust
the penguin of doom
That's a nice job that Mick. I'm no weathering expert, but I agree, a little bit of muck'll make it spot on.
Guest Max Stafford
That's much, much better Mick. I always thought that the V1 bodyshell looked a bit half-finished with those odd gaps and mould lines. Dave.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted May 27, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 27, 2011 Am I allowed to say it looks lovely the way it is - and weathering will dull the fine result of all that effort? Clean steam locos may not have lasted long that way - but they do look lovely, especially this one!
micklner
I agree re weathering as said earlier it will be very light. That is the reason my Pacifics are always immaculate far to nice to dirty up cheers
micklner
Since my last post I have attacked my layout Helensdale changing the track layout and adding a Coal Drop based loosely on North Blyth and extended the Engine Shed to four roads, as below. Scenic work to now be done to the area in front of the Shed
James
I think the new shed, in my opinion, is a much better backdrop for your 'big' engines The coal stage really looks the part too!
Markeg
Hi Mick, checking this listing has answered my questions on your layout thread. Thanks Mark
