  1. The 20" x 11" should be an independent unit capable of being displayed as such. You could, of course, integrate it into a larger project after completion. Hope that helps, A
  2. Indeed so, the blue team are now aware and will be coming back to me early next week.
  3. Thanks Muz, I must admit that SeMG's site is usually my first port of call on the 'net for reference material on such matters (such as checking 2EPB car numbers late last night) and it's an excellent resource. I must actually join sometime.
  4. has just worked out that in this and the previous version of the site we have passed the 1,000,000 posts mark a while ago. No wonder I can't find stuff.

All you need to do now is retrospectively impose a £1 per post fee and you can retire...

Will there be a prize for post no. 2,000,000?

  5. For most of its energised life the Woodhead was a two-trick pony although I recall seeing and seeing pictures of 25s, 37s, 40s, 47s and Peaks over the years. Some time ago I saw a snippet on David Heys website - http://www.davidheyscollection.com/page3.htm as follows: The 50 was certainly a surprise to me so I wondered if anyone had any other knowledge of oddities under the wires?

Love the profanity filter, I wish I had discovered this a long time ago! ######!!!

  7. A Group has been created to collect and develop topics principally relating to the Manchester-Sheffield-Wath electrified route and its forebears. Modelling thereof is to be encouraged!
  8. Which will meet the criteria of being rail-related.
  9. You can; I was just working on the assumption that Earl Bathurst was using the 20" as a horizontal measurement. I've got some ideas for the vertical format I'm trying to suppress.
  10. That's correct, good luck. Get your camera and a tape measure out! In the nicest possible way of course.
  11. No, it means a maximum of 20" and a maximum of 11" in the appropriate dimensions.

    EBay madness

I don't think those are Scalescenes products; I think they're his own.
  13. The baseboard depth should be included within the 11" total height. Good luck!
  14. The 'module' should be presented as not exceeding the 20" x 11" but if you wish to design it in such a way that additional off-scene areas can be integrated after the deadline then that is fine. Anything outside the 20" x 11" cannot be included for judging purposes. If it's a project which has not been already documented here or elsewhere it would be difficult to rule upon that but providing the criteria is met I'll allow it.
  15. Certainly so David; as long as it is tangibly rail-related.
  16. RMweb and Model Rail join forces to bring a modelling challenge to our readers. This is an opportunity for readers of both resources to tackle a small project over the summer months and produce a diorama. The diorama should fit within a 20” x 11” footprint although it needn’t be that size or rectangular in shape. Scale doesn’t matter either; you could choose to do something in 7mm scale or larger for the first time or at the other extreme ‘T’ gauge or even smaller. You may even choose to turn it on end and have a diorama that is 11” x 11” in area and 20” in height. The diorama should be railway related and could represent a cameo of small detail in a large scale through to the foyer of a major terminus, imagination and creativity is the key. Your model can be static or operational and is not limited by any geographical or era boundaries. Focussing on originality will test creative skills and it is an opportunity to try new skills and techniques that may pay dividends in your larger modelling projects in the future. It is a challenge after all! The best way of entering the 2011 Challenge is to record your build process on RMweb in this forum where you can interact with other entrants, seek answers to any questions you may have and to fly your flag and gain a following of interested readers. Alternatively, if you don’t wish to register on RMweb, you can submit your entry with images via email to info@rmweb.co.uk and your entry will be entered into the voting process. The Challenge is open until 1st October 2011 at which point a list of completed entries submitted by that date will be published on 3rd November and voting will run until 3rd December and voted for online by RMweb and Model Rail readers based on the following criteria: • Visual impact • Prototypical interest • Originality Results will be published in Model Rail 164 and on RMweb. A progress report will feature in Model Rail prior to the closing date highlighting entries. A prize for the winner The overall winner of the Challenge will receive a prize of model railway equipment, books and DVDs worth £250 and a year’s free subscription to Model Rail.
  17. can't abide blunt emails when the problem is user error. A bit like the emails I get virtually demanding evaluations of all manner of cr@p someone's found in a dead relative's loft.

It tickled me anyway, think Lady Killers with profanity. :) Some great little cameo roles too and you don't realise who some are until the credits.

  19. has just built some walls in some forums. I can't get all the pictures to hang straight thought. :)

  21. Hi James, I've just had to remove the images posted above after a confirmed report of malware on the pages.pacificoast site. I'm not saying those images were infected but McAfee was barring access to this topic as the images were stored on a server known to host some malware. Images are best uploaded onto the RMweb server. Thanks, Andy
  22. has been out booking the rest of the accommodation needed for members' day, it necessitated more cider and talking about modelling. :-D
