Hi James, I've just had to remove the images posted above after a confirmed report of malware on the pages.pacificoast site. I'm not saying those images were infected but McAfee was barring access to this topic as the images were stored on a server known to host some malware. Images are best uploaded onto the RMweb server. Thanks, Andy

In a word; no. Paint and thinners should ideally be matched from the same range to minimise the risk of unwanted paint effects. The OP was asking the question because he's over the pond and wanted to pick out people's experience in using an alternative product. I'd recommended Tamiya as it's known to work but I hadn't realised it was hard to source over there.

It's up you what you think but you're bordering on making a libellous accusation that you can't substantiate there and compromising the site in doing so. It could just be that they're a known name and a lot of buyers don't do their research. I do. Maybe you're looking for a self-destruct button?

I find Tamiya acrylic thinners work well enough with Railmatch acrylics thinned to the consistency of milk (about 2/3 rds paint to 1/3 rds thinner) sprayed at around 25 psi.

That's an opinion; whether I agree or disagree is immaterial but it is derogatory, insulting and inappropriate here. My earlier post obviously missed the mark; it's nothing to do with the production of cartons and their components but the number of boxes that fit within outer cartons/packaging or pallets as James says. Anyway, this is a distraction and irrelevance in relation to this topic's subject matter.

Sorry to say this is not actually correct. I haven't heard of any Hornby runs of 500 but I can advise that the quantity of 504 in the Bachmann context refers to carton quantities. This isn't to do with tooling life at all but more the commercial viabilities from the manufacturer/retailer relationship. Dapol produce shorter print runs on certain wagons and it is just that, a paint and print run of an existing tooling. Different manufacturers use different materials for tooling, broadly speaking spending more on quality materials will produce a tooling with longer life and production return. Some companies compromise on tooling to use a tooling which costs less and giving a shorter run. Outside of resin cating and similar techniques the production capabilities are far in excess of the volumes you've mentioned.

Invisible ink in the OP again. The order form says to post date cheque to 01. Nov.11 which would then make the cheque valid until the end of May. Credit/Debit card payments obviously couldn't be taken until the goods are ready to ship as no mention is made of deposit.
