Went today, a really good show

Your very modest.... Perhaps you can point us in the direction of what methods / materials you have used so we can explore further "The only other wagons I have some nagging doubt with are these 2 x tank cars below, not sure why…….?" - perhaps is it that there are no apparent dribbles from the filler cap area?

SOUTHAMPTON MODEL RAILWAY SOCIETY 2024 EXHIBITION
steve45 replied to MARKF1985's topic in Exhibitions
I went today and spent 4 hours looking around and could have spent longer, what a cracking show, thanks to everyone involved -
I shall stick with my current Hornby 5's, I can't see too much of an improvement myself

Definitely the best magazine of its time, knocked spots of the Railway Modeller and Model Railway News for both format and content. Very sadly missed, as MrWolf said, BRM is probably the nearest to it that we have now

Where was the prototype for the coal stage/water tank?

Our local grammar school has a model railway club for its pupils. Our annual exhibition is held at the school and they have exhibited their club layout at the show on more than one occasion and we have donated materials to them to help with their layout. Our show is very popular with young families and older children/young people, it's so good to see.

Our model railway club has a thriving youth section, they are very keen and want to be involved. Please don't spread gloom and doom without full facts, I for one am getting sick of it

Just pre-ordered 2 Genesis CIE Brake Seconds. I will repaint them if the order is fulfilled

Beautiful layout, judging by the presentation it goes out to exhibitions. Whereabouts do you live as there could be an exhibition invitation coming your way? Steve

About 4 years ago I had a ride on a vintage tram car in Pague which was very similar if not the same as the one pictured in J1438. It was a great experience as although it was a preserved vehicle it was running in the city where it came from. It was arranged by my employer as part of a business convention and a large group of us filled 3 cars on an evening run before a dinner in a very strange restaurant which occupied an old church. The trams were kept in very good condition. -

Thanks Paul, I had already booked Alton into the diary, not sure I can plan that far ahead to include Yeovil in 2057 -

Hi Paul, May I ask what exhibitions are you at in 2024? Cheers Steve -
If you don't want a large automatic computer controlled layout using software such as traincontroller examples being Chadwick Model Railway or Mckinley Model Railway and you want to control the locos via handsets yourself then you can't beat NCE, I use one myself. It's very simple and intuitive and has been developed over years and has a large following and a yahoo group for asking questions. Suggest you do your own research, particularly on Youtube as there are lots of tutorials about programming decoders etc. using different systems. You will get an idea which system may suite you - then go and search one out either at a retail DCC specialist or perhaps even better at a local model railway exhibition where you can ask questions from a user.

That's back on topic, 20 quid for an Izal bog roll.................ridiculous!!!!

The J67/68/69 ‘Buckjumper’, By Accurascale
steve45 replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Nooooo, early BR please to mach the early BR tramcars in brown livery, very unusual combination -
Hornby, are you out there, are you reading what is being written here? No one is saying that the oversized working lamps have swung their decision to buy one of these engines, but a lot of people are saying that the lamps have put them off buying it.

The J67/68/69 ‘Buckjumper’, By Accurascale

Recently acquired a copy of The Tollesbury Branch by Peter Paye. Quoting the contents apparently J69/1 and J68 classes also ran on the branch at various times as well as J67/1, example numbers of J69/1 being 68619, 68635, 68578. He quotes 3 of class J68, 68638, 68641 and 68644. Given that the W&U bogie tramcars are available from Rapido surely one of each class J67/1, J68 and J69/1 which ran on the K&T are a no-brainer for Accurascale.....please please -
