      The Stationmaster

And not in four wheel coaches either I would think.

  2. Hang on to your hopes, my friend That's an easy thing to say But if your hopes should pass away Simply pretend that you can build them again Look around The grass is high The fields are ripe It's the springtime of my life

  3. No Scouts tonight, cue Life on Mars on TV and a cold IPA, marvellous :-)

I'm not sure a scout is old enough to drink IPA

  4. In the loft, loosening up my Webb tank nicely, beer in hand. Bliss...

That's good as I'm seriously tempted owning one of these tanks!

  5. Gardeners questiontime, making me feel better about our scruffy back garden, apparently it's better for wildlife, insects, birds and stuff

  6. What's with all this   weirdness, am I just getting old?

it means "non blanking space" and is a part of the website code - and shouldn't be visible.

Oh I see, I've just noticed it in a number of posts recently!

  7. Musing on the Layout Topics thread, impressionistically the main topic for layout projects appears to be BR sectorisation and privatisation period followed by WR steam? Would be curious to see a proper analysis done on this based on layout descriptions!

      tractionman

Sounds a bit like my own layout plans! There's nothing like having some variety - for me, 1930s LMS, plus a bit of pre-war SR when I fancy it, then 1958-92 Eastern Region (ex-GER/GNR), steam and diesel, plus a few green diesels of the LMR and WR, then BR Blue D&E, 1974-1982! No wonder I am getting nothing done...

  8. I seem to be spending more and more of my RMWeb time lingering in the SG Industrial Modelling section, the new DJ Models Austerity and the forthcoming Hornby Peckett getting me thinking...

so you need to look at Judith Edge kits, RT models et al for more Industrial inspiration

they are very tempting, I could try cutting my teeth (not literally) on one of the more basic kits - I've not tried brass before.

  9. Special delivery just arrived from Track Shack :-) it's playtime!

  10. Just realised rmweb has grown, new sections on narrow gauge and garden railways and model engineering, I'll now be spending even more time on here!

  12. been boxing up some of my stock in the loft ready to make some progress on the boards and proper track laying at last - I cannot believe how much stuff I have acquired over the past few years, it's a bit sobering really...

Having stuff is good ... and healthy. Not having stuff shows a lack of ambition and imagination. It is also a well known fact that you cannot have too many locos

Yes, the numbers are a bit scary - best not think about it too much. I feel better already. In fact now I have cleared the board of stock it looks a little empty... another 3F would keep the other(s) company.

  13. admiring the Bachmann Scenecraft Coaling Stage (44-048) just acquired at the local show for the princely sum of £19!

Jammy. I bought a GC subway for a tenner. Still looking for a GC booking office.

I was about to buy one on Ebay too for £38... good thing I dithered.

  14. I like the 'load more topics' bar at the bottom of each page, or was it there before and I missed seeing it...?

Sorry to say it's been there all the time Keith!

  15. Nice to see I am so "average" in my modelling spend according to the poll - I showed this to my wife to say, 'look, it's not just me that spends £XXXX' on trains...

      Ian J.

Brave thing, showing your wife how much you spend ;-)

I think if I was in the 10k bracket she might not be quite so understanding!

There was a chap at Paddington this morning at the platform end about to be nabbed just as I arrived...

  19. Hmm. Charged £4.50 for 2nd class delivery but only £2.85 on the envelope, was the packaging really £1.65?

Some traders undoubtedly boost their profits with exorbitant P&P charges, but I wouldn't say this was one of them.

That's not too bad at all. When I go to the post it is an approx. 15mile round trip plus £1.00 parking, I do try to post a few items at once but inevitably a late payer will mean I often take just 1 parcel!

    4. brigo

      brigo

Don't forget PayPal take another 3.4% of the postage charge.

  20. just acquired 3 old Hornby Midland clerestory coaches to go with my 1000 - for their age they're actually impressive looking models, they certainly look the part.

  21. Run-in my new Bachmann Peak, all good, time now for a sausage sandwich and mug of tea.

    1. Captain Kernow

I hope that the sausage gave satisfaction.

  22. Becoming a convert to Radio 6.

    1. JDW

      JDW

Radio 6? I thought the dial stopped at 2. And started at it, for that matter...

    2. tractionman

      tractionman

Radio 4 is where I was at but I'm finding it's getting tedious, and Radio 6 - on digital - plays some top toons, including some of the old stuff!

  23. looking forward to tomorrow and getting the latest Railway Modeller: http://www.pecopublications.co.uk/Railway-Modeller-November-2015.html
