  1. I think the message is pretty clear! Law of s*d also prevails - I got a cracking running "Dutch" Class 31 last week ( don't ask..) but out of the box a handrail was absent...I await the replacement with baited breath...and bizarrely the loco contained a set of head code discs for a headcode loco that did not need them..doubly frustrating as its not long since I got a replacement set for a green 31 I bought over a year ago which did need them but did not include them...ho hum... Chris

  5. At Westbury. I'm quite a fan of the livery.....and its better than no 50 at all.... The owners have an informative FB page and seem to welcome interest in their stock including publicising this week's test runs Chris
  6. I'll just leave this here...0:58....bit of scenery advice as well...

  10. Thanks for the replies - I'm interested in the current scene so I've tracked down a reasonably priced used copy of the latest version of the Track Atlas - as this has all the lines shown. I shall also make use of the various online resources suggested. I shall see how that works out.. Thanks again Chris
  11. I may get a new UK track atlas. I've currently got a 2nd edition version of "Track Atlas of Mainland Britain" by Mike Bridge but have noticed a few changes since publication. An updated edition is available (?2017 I think) Is it worth getting the more recent version? Another option is the Rail Atlas Of Great Britain And Ireland 15th Edition by S Baker which is more recent. I'd be glad of any comments on pros and cons of both or indeed any other suggestions. The Bridge book is incredibly detailed and I assume the Baker Atlas is less so showing routes rather than individual lines. Thanks in advance Chris
  12. No - it was an early safety conundrum -if the hat was big enough to go with the red flag it was a catenary risk.........even Brunel couldn't crack that one...
  13. You're right. A couple I know have moved house following retirement to take on a fairly full-on voluntary roles associated with one of the stations....I hope the railway survives.
  14. To be fair you can almost see Dunster station from Minehead so Bus time should be minimal...I'm told Dunster and the Castle are actually decent destinations in themselves..may be worth doing a bit of pre-trip research.
