You're right. A couple I know have moved house following retirement to take on a fairly full-on voluntary roles associated with one of the stations....I hope the railway survives.

To be fair you can almost see Dunster station from Minehead so Bus time should be minimal...I'm told Dunster and the Castle are actually decent destinations in themselves..may be worth doing a bit of pre-trip research.

I assume a steam tour will be in difficulty if the loco can't get to the turn table at Minehead..although this tour seems to offer WSR haulage from BL and the tour loco will be turned at Norton Fitzwarren...anyway....(spot the man who knows nothing about running a real railway)...whatever happened to a man with a red flag...

Morning Rob I think we all get setbacks that kidnap our Mojo....I'm not even really running trains at the moment although I did get Penmaenbach up and running for a photo session and quite enjoyed myself....I have plans, baseboards and materials for that S&D branchline but its very much stalled. The receipt of a duff loco is quite a regular occurence sadly and I have learnt to use my regular sources rather than grabbing opportunistic bargains off the net. We are not alone. This is lifted from a post today on the British Railway Modelling FB page. "Not a happy bunny...another six month old Hornby loco has its valve gear fall to pieces... this time on an S15... in the last year I’ve had to repair my two Q1’s automatic lubricators with sheared pins, 9F linkage rivet fell out, Rebuilt Merchant Navy expansion link fell to pieces... lubrication and correct servicing count for nothing if tolerances are poor... oh, and did I mention Mazak rot on my T9 ...grrrrrr" https://www.facebook.com/groups/137680486384860 At last the sun's out and I'm managing to see a bit of the real thing... Stumbled across the picture from July 2018 of 66425 and a vintage OCA heading south at Warrngton.
