  1. @Accurascale Fran Thanks very much for adding the box to protect the AccuraFolk. They've arrived with all limbs, food and drink intact (well, other than their legs - but they'd already lost them).
  2. It's the Bachmann Collector's Club model @Accurascale Fran so easily missed as it isn't generally available.
  3. The Bachmann Class 47 is a very nice model indeed. It doesn't quite have the wow factor of the Accurascale Deltic for me, but perhaps that is partly because the old model 47 was already very good. The sound is a big step up though. The new Bachmann 37 seems a little similar but looks to be more accurate for variants which may well be true for the 47 too.
  4. I'm certainly one of the last people to be able to speak to the accuracy of the model. What I will say is that it looks very attractive in its weathered form for Kernow. And I love that Heljan model open cab windows. A small thing, but it really makes a difference. I do wish that there was a factory fitted sound option though.
  5. I think the Accurascale 37 looks better in the photos I've seen and is cheaper. It also has a better speaker and stay alive. The Bachmann's Zimo decoder may well appeal to some. Bachmann made some play regarding their loco being less fragile which may well be true. And, to be fair to them, their spares service is second to none. The competition is really producing some stunning models right now.
  6. Stunning wagons - the level of detail is just incredible.
  7. I thought that the bogie chains were meant to keep the bogie attached if the locomotive derailed to better slow it down?
  8. Especially given that a number of more recent model announcements are of electric locomotives which run off overhead wires! I'd love to see a good selection of overhead line equipment from Peco as the initial items are very nice indeed.
  9. The ESU controllers essentially do that, although with touch screens for the mobile controllers (and even on the base station for functions beyond F8). And I'm sure there are others which operate in a similar fashion. I certainly like the visibility of which function key does what (to the extend I can puzzle out the icons) compared to the more basic controllers where I have to keep an external list. But as @big jim noted, I rarely use a lot of the more unusual sound effects beyond an initial run through to see what they sound like. That said, I can (even if subconsciously) question the value of an after-market sound chip if I find it only has a handful of sounds set up - for all that I'll never use most of them 🙄!
  10. I'm very happy with my three Hattons Class 66s. They all arrived with the wobble, but luckily we managed to fix that. Other than that we were perhaps lucky in terms of loose detail (other than the axle boxes falling off pre-fix). I added EM2 speakers with the Legomanbiffo sound project and they are some of the best sounding locos that we have. But I can understand people sending them back - you really shouldn't need to fix a brand new model. It does spoil you for other Class 66 models. I really like Bachmann's products in general - but their 66 can't really compete with the Hattons model. And I'd definitely buy more if they did another run - another EWS liveried one for a start, plus a green Freighliner one. Seeing @dj_crisp's weathered ones really shows off the level of detail.
  11. I almost hope it isn't a model of interest to me. Otherwise bankruptcy beckons 😉
  12. I'd seen the photos, read the reports from those who've received the locomotive and yet unpacking D9006 in two-tone green with full yellow ends this afternoon still left me enraptured by the beauty of this model. The detail is tremendous and as someone who used to see (and hear) the Deltics departing from Edinburgh Waverley I'm very pleased with the sound. I've not had the chance to run it in properly yet but it is already very smooth. And I was lucky enough to have it arrive in perfect condition. Thanks very much to Fran and all the guys at Accurascale for your efforts. I'm looking forward to following D9006 with my BR Blue version of 55003 - and then getting even more excited about the Class 37 having seen how good these models are (not to mention some nice Mk2s to go behind Meld).
  13. Absolutely terrifying! 😱 I love the way the expert has the cigarette in one hand as he works.
  14. Well, I'm looking forward to my three Accurascale Class 37s immensely - and even more so every time I see the photos. My only worry is how my existing Class 37s are going to look alongside these beauties!
  15. I love your North British Hotel and Glasgow Queen Street models - they are stunning. I'm hoping that you might add some Glasgow or Edinburgh tenements to supplement the beautiful Highland butt and ben models for those of us modelling more built-up areas.
  16. @No DecorumI love the ESU ECoS Command Station - you get a visual indication of the locomotive selected, can use helpful icons for the various functions and can control points, signals and routes visually rather than typing in DCC addresses. It is expensive, but so much more advanced than the US controllers. You can also set any function to be momentary, which can be useful for dynamic braking/sound functions. Handily it also works with things like iTrain (should you ever go down that route) and can be controlled from a tablet or phone as well as the ESU base station and mobile controllers. The only downside is that it does so much that it can be rather overwhelming at first! I've already got custom icons loaded and waiting for my Accurascale green and blue Deltics...
  17. Bachmann announcements at 9:30am tomorrow according to the YouTube details.
  18. Oh no, I can feel the pull of the IIAs... 😉 I completely agree on the Hattons Class 66. We've added Legomanbiffo sound and Earthmover 2 speakers to our 2 and they really are impressive beasts.
  19. Thanks very much @Torbay Express - we've two already and had to fix their wobble. It would be nice to get one that ran smoothly out of the box, but we're prepared either way!
  20. It certainly made me very happy getting 66789 thanks to @ERIC ALLTORQUE. I had been looking on eBay, but didn't fancy paying the prices being asked for a locomotive that has a lot of fragile detail and possibly may have had some attempt at fixing the wobble/axle box issues. I'm still hoping that Hattons do another run of them at some point.
  21. It can certainly be insensitive for companies to use Mother's Day as a way to push products for commercial gain. However, like @Silly Moo I was glad to see Hornby recognise that model railways can appeal to women as well as men. I do love building Scalescenes buildings - but also have a good collection of diesel locomotives and associated stock currently waiting for a layout.
  22. Great to see RMweb back - it was much missed. And thanks for all your work Andy. It sounds like a very fraught time.
  23. I received my first pack of the Norsk Hydro IWAs - beautiful packaging and a really tremendously well detailed pair of wagons. They'll look well alongside my RevolutioN IZAs!
  24. Oops - didn't mean to post in the N Gauge topic - but they look lovely in 2mm scale too .
