  1. 'Liking' and 'buying' could be two entirely different things though. I 'like' steam engines, but they'll make up less than 1% of what I 'buy'
  2. I think it was on flickr I stumbled across them in a group of some kind. Cant find them right now but some useful photos might be here https://www.flickr.com/photos/lastarial/9014724173/in/photolist-eJAPqR-aYzDrD-eTnACk-6qkK71-GKAdCV-6GLihB-54syiR-dpEfab-o4vGiA-kMBy5p-8gc7qa-99NxRN-nYvG2V-oRnpak-dhrPSy-bH7yGx-f3PCAK-id1HS5-cQ7dvW-nE75cs-fqZSQS-py6jDx-qQfgRi-saqC5z-HP3B12-bmPDxS-fnaMjs-dZ3jev-ro7NVR-oRRfSa-ccmG4A-dWuZBs-5srchh-efbPY1-wEJiVN-6e2WfM-aDAdoy-rmQHJX-dHMhvX-r5oAgA-qwMoY2-byQHPY-aDAdV9-ccsmh3-dwG6KB-qostc3-pSC1w7-pACJQK-muDVE6-jyLuRu https://www.flickr.com/groups/class303-311/pool/page3
  3. The sides in the kit are plastic rather than etched or resin so are reasonably thick ... perhaps 1.5mm from memory I found somewhere on the internet a series of pictures where someone has found a refurbished Class 303 in Strathclyde livery in the Ayrshire platforms of Glasgow Central where they've gone along and taken photo after photo of the details along the side of the unit from the opposite platform, perhaps 50 photos in total. If you can find those it might answer your question about the LNER coach bogies
  4. I dont really think its about one manufacturer or another 'calling dibs' on a particular loco or class, but models need to sell in large enough quantities to pay back the investment required in designing and producing such beautiful models. Some popular or common types will have enough variations to support more than one manufacturer producing models and everyone makes money. But should models not sell in enough quantities then it could be disastrous, particularly for the smaller manufacturers and DJM as an example is really only starting up in comparison to the more established producers. If more than one manufacturer is competing for the same sales then both could lose out. Hands up who wants to gamble their house on how many of a particular new model is going to sell well.
  5. There was a lot of both on the Saturday so perhaps a fair amount of blue boxes were sold
  6. I'd hope they'd change the bodies and underframe to be a Class 81 next!!!
  7. I find it very surprising if people are cancelling orders when there is only one announcement actually on the table. Orders cancelled with DJM could put that option at risk where there is no guarantee when or if another option would surface. Crowd funding must be quite different to normally released competing models where the one to market first could fulfill demand leaving the second arrival unwanted and left on the shelves. Where money is being committed in advance those are firm orders and a duplicate splitting the market could make both unviable. I'd hope some co-operation could avoid too much being lost on either side. If lawyers become involved, they will be the only ones that win!
  8. I live in Newton-le-Willows so Warrington Bank Quay is very familiar!! Fantastic subject for a layout!! Are you going to have electrics double-heading steel coil trains for swapping to diesel haulage over to Shotton or will that be too early for your timeframe?
  9. Its about time too after they've been consistently ignored for years!!!
  10. ah ok, I hadn't noticed the masts extending that far out, I thought they stopped nearer Edge Hill where the London line splits off thats a pretty substantially constructed bridge going over there in the photo!
  11. Are you sure? If its over the Chat moss I wouldn't have expected the line underneath to be Electrified - has the Chat Moss lines at that point not only been done very recently?
  12. I struggle to see how its acceptable with the way train fares are increasing to take seats out to allow more standing room ... what next? back to cattle trucks tagged on the end of units??
  13. it might have been the same arrangement for the class 03 Cab roof as for the TPO coaches where the first batch was exclusive then Bachmann could produce catalogue runs too.
  14. what would the 47s have been used for from Kings cross? I didn't think there would have been many services that weren't electrically hauled by then, but there always seemed to be a couple stabled there. We're they just thunderbirds for failures?
  15. I really cant see them producing a catalogue Class 08 and Collectors Club exclusive Class 09 in the same year in pretty much the same livery. I'd have thought we'd have one or the other so if we have a catalogue Class 08 model ...
  16. I'd doubt it with a 37401 in essentially the same livery due out at a similar time. Had they been released at different times possibly, but I'd doubt that would be produced just yet
  17. Just a thought about the attached/unattached nameplates Dave, but could you do both? 50% of the batch having the nameplate fitted in the factory and the rest with the etched nameplate in the box? Would it really be so different to offering DCC Ready or Fitted versions?
  18. 92023 sounds good to me, I'll have one of those
  19. well that's not the update I was expecting but I can understand you leaving the 86s and 87s though. I just hope those are solid rumours and we don't have several other manufacturers all backing away leaving no one doing them! I wouldn't really have thought the 86s and 87s were so suited to crowdfunding with the huge variety of eras and liveries and variations. I'll still have a 92 though, one in one of the original liveries as they're at the tail end of my modelling era. would there be any common parts with the class 89? strangely enough I'd find it in a couple of liveries more of interest
  20. GordonC

    Dapol Class 21/29

still no sign of any progress?
  21. In the days when Ravenscraig was open I'm pretty sure both Iron Ore and Coal came from Hunterston. There are plenty pictures of Motherwell 37s hauling coal trains on the line from Hunterston
  22. gutted!!! I was hoping for several in OO!
  23. Its Realtracks product so they're entirely entitled to decide whether its kept secret or not and when to announce it.
  24. it couldn't have been because the screws were tight that it's cracked the roof could it? that looks pretty much exactly where the screws will go into the body to hold it on
