  1. Well we do go to that extent and I think you have misunderstood where I was coming from regarding the key at the joint, we are both saying the same thing hebce the ey needs to point away from the joint regardless of the accerating or braking forces as the fishplate needs to fit.
  2. Don't forget the keys point away from the joint as well.
  3. Markits do a nut spinner set down to BA16. Very useful
  4. My understanding is that only the top edges of the plank were chamfered, not both. Was the Cambrian different?
  5. I have a NCE powercab as do others in the group. It is relatively cheap but expandable. It will cope with your requirements.
  6. It's not a recent development though. I have a trinag Flying Scotsman from the 70s that has firebox glow.
  7. Thanks for that information. Looks like I'll need to order one.
  8. My shed is 6m x 3m and I used 15 most were 750mm some were 550mm because of my ground.
  9. Mike Which high level gear box and whcih sprockets would you use? Thanks Paul
  10. When I looked there wasn't a 35mm wheelbase versoin in P4. If there was sufficient movement between the 2 perhaps I might get away without compensation. Is chain drive an option?
  11. Is that an option for your 4mm EF1 kit? The blackbeetle options aren't accuarate in wheel base or wheel size.
  12. Depending on your ground conditions ground screws are an option. Not good if you have a lot of gravel in your clay though. I built a log cabin using them as the base in the summer.
  13. Working in P4 there are few alternatives all of which are friction fit. I try to fit then only once and at the most twice using a GW models wheel press.
  14. Gibson Driving wheels are £6.20 per axle. Bogie and tender wheels £3.10. Portescap motor picked up for £35.00. The Bradwell tender was £55. My comet frames were £32 and I have a Brachline set around the same price.
  15. I have to disagree with you on the cost of a kit built V2. The Mike Trice version comes in under £200 inccluding a Dave Bradwell tender in P4. P4 models generally are more expansive then RTR but not in this case.
  16. It certainly puts the Mike Trice version into the bargain category especially for P4 modellers.
  17. Gramodels do a very nice t one which puts the weight where you need it https://www.gramodels.co.uk/
  18. The wire from the tube is joggled under the rail to stop the switch riding higher than the stock rail.
  19. I can pay cheques in to my bank viai the app on my mobile phone. No need to visit the bank. Just as well as it is 240 miles from where I live. Streling drafts should be available from your bank. They may be expensive.
  20. I have written cheques regularly for things although all are model railway related.
  21. Maybe put the final paragraph warning in the heading as it will get lost very quickly. As for ebay I think it will not become clear until the New Year.
  22. Ah yes but my recollection is that they were blue not green.
