  1. I been thinking of doing the same with a couple of my 1st class coaches I have. the full kits are nice but the weight of a 6-8 coach train is pushing it for Bachmann 4-6-0’s. And above 8 starts to tell on the princess if the 12 wheelers are involved.
  2. I forgot to mention in the last post I have ordered two kits from London Road Models the first is the 0-6-0 tender Barton-Wright Ironclad, which will make a nice engine to fit into to the LMS fleet I already have. The second kit is a L&Y 20ton 4 wheel brake van kit, the first of many hopefully as many of my current brake vans are either LMS vans in BR which will be re liveried or BR standard vans which will have to fine a new home in time. Never built a LRM kit before so should be interesting, though looking on the net I haven’t found any builds of the kit which is interesting is it not popular or are they a pig and I’m in for a learning curve.
  3. Oh dear city of London but what livery, I’m torn LMS so it could feasibly run it, BR and it could go with my City of Leicester, I could start a small collection. But Then I’d want King George V. This is getting expensive for models that are not really needed for Chorley.
  4. I’m going to say more Hornby Double O, the question is dose the tooling need to be designed with metal models in mind? If so would they have designed all new models to be able to be use with metal, could a princess Royal be a possibility? (are using the double O brand as a all new specialist rage or are they staying faithful) Though the black 5 is in need of a update I think the 8f would be the easy option not to many variance needed plus it would sit in the Double O range nicely if Hornby are staying faithful. and maybe this is the year we see a all new L&YR model hit the rails, just not the Barton-Wright 0-6-0 tender engine I’ve ordered from LRM please.
  5. I predict at least 10 ruddy terrier’s in ever livery imageable apart from x which someone wants and then goes on to moan about it not being down on ever page of Hornby Facebook page even after being told it was only done the other year.
  6. The roof as had some weathering done and the ridge tiles fitted, the first ones went on fine then the rest decided to not play ball. The edges need trimming which can wait for now, Ridge tiles same with the windows are from York Modelmaking. The windows where made to order but if anyone needs windows 4x6 pains they are available as I said they could use them ( I didn’t release I had to give permission I guess if you mention Chorley might be a good idea. Only things missing are the doors and gutters. Something for next year. also manage to order another book from the L&YR Society, which I am currently reading.
  7. Has anyone built the LRM, BARTON WRIGHT 0-6-0? I’ve sent a email to pay by PayPal, just wondering how others got on with the kit

There have been a couple of threads on the class 23

Some drawings appeared on this thread

There is then a building thread from about half way down page 33 here

There are loads of pictures on the web of this class.

Look forward to seeing your progress.

  8. That really is a stunning model, I can find only one problem…. It’s GWR! But seriously I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of western fans with new Halls running around their layouts next year. I might even have to get one as they are my favourite Western class. One question will the names plates be printed or etched on the production model.
  9. No I never said all locos or did I imply that locos that no longer exist where scanned. I simply pointed out that Bachmann Heljan and Dapol do use laser scanning as part of their research. I did not think it would be necessary to stress that laser scanning isn’t used on locos that no longer exist or models designed before laser scanning was in the use by modelling companies. However I will endeavour to remember to point this in the future for those who may have trouble.
  10. Dapol scanned the class 52 donkeys years ago and considering Bachmann when announced their 117 5years ago they had already scanned the class 117 would point to most companies now using scanning at part of their pre- production work.
  11. The roof as been redone with Southeastern fincast embossed tile sheet. Some fill to be done here and there. Though the Main price is going to be left so the shed can be modelled with the roof on or open you can see the photos to see what I mean. Some tooling as been painted and added to the inside I like the pillar drill fitted to the wall itself. I’ve used some chinchilla sand for the ground and painted with poster paint turned out not to bad. Flashing and ridge tiles, gutters needed doors plus weathering here and there. But I think it’s starting to come to life.
  12. If your talking about the citadel chaos black it is a primer. Abaddon Black (pure Black) needs a primer. The black royal Scot was a green one sprayed with Chaos black no under coat.
  13. Sorry maybe I should have said the Self discharge PGA’s both Inner and outer PGA’s along with the PXA.
  14. A stab in the dark, and I know I’ve mentioned them before probably on this topic but I’m quite constant in my wishes, wagon’s PGA’s and PXA’s and How about standard BR brake van.
  15. Some nicknacks arrived the other day and have been painted and added the shed needs to be taken apart to remove the grit which as gotten in well some track work as been done but needs to dry before I can take it apart. I’m not happy with the roof. The paper when dried as warped the roof. So either I need to order some thicker plastic and try again…. Or just order some tiled embossed plastic and be done.
  16. Trying some printable tiles out one the roof. The colour is supposed to be old slates with moss. But when printed out it comes out quite purple. However once the PVA starts to Soak is it dose go a nice green. The right side of the roof had just been done when photographed. But the green as started to come trough on that side too. So I I’m quite pleased with the results so far.
  17. As the shed is a little closer to being finished here’s a image from the front.
  18. The smoke troughs have been installed and the roof cut to fit round the chimney’s. Need to fit a small tube at the back left corner to allow the wires to be guided down through the base.
  19. I’ve cut the main roof out and is just resting on to at the moment. The reverse side is painted grey to cut down light bleed and to give the impression of a slate roof looking inside. The out side will have rows paper slate glue on with plastic ridge tile. Still need to do the second smoke trough. Then I’ll bed it all in. Doors and nicknacks inside. Oh the gutter need to go on to which will blend the the roof to the building as can be seen from the images there’s gaps which won’t be there when that’s done.
  20. One smoke trough built and fitted one to do
  21. Well I’ve done a little more work, lights are fitted and just need wiring up into a circuit. I’ve also had a lovely delivery from the L&YR society and have some reading to do this is the welcoming pack plus back issues of the year. A couple with lights fitted and working.
  22. Well the snows coming down out side. Luckily the builders have been busy the roofing is moving on at a pace. All the beams for the main roof are done and painted in white. I don’t know how Authentic it is but the images found one the net show white and it can always be weathered. Templates for the roof are cut well 3 anyway. The other side will be done but will try to make it detachable. I wondering wither to use plastic slates form southeastern or to use plane plastcard and glue paper slates on. In pre cut rows obviously I’m not that mad. Also what would be found in a shed? I’m thinking workbenches and some tools. Would electric tools such as piller drill etc. and would oil drums be inside and would they have had a oil drum rack.
  23. More painting done the main building is about finished but will weathering and I have ordered some cement weathering powder so we’ll give that ago to see if it looks any better. Waiting for some square tube for the smoke troughs though one is particularly built and can be seen. Some of the roof timbers are built though none are finished, I think they are showing promise
