  1. Wasted money on a rather poor paint scheme. Looks very amateurish and boring. Couldn’t decide on what colour the grills should be, ‘Red no, black no, white! What do you mean white!’ reminds me of the corporate bus colours of a 1980s in Leicester red, black and grey. The logo is just dreadful. The block font is dull as dish water, with the rather unimaginative logo looks like a trainee graphic designer was given the job at 2 o’clock on Friday afternoon. The poor thing needs rescuing and repainting into triple gray rail freight scheme. Or something equally handsome.
  2. You’ll be telling me next, I’ve wasted my money on getting a gallon of diesel in specially for mine.
  3. Sometimes a D’oh!! button is needed!
  4. Oh now then, those two models do look the dogs wobbly bits. I’m looking forward to 57 023 arriving soon. Going to need some more HAA’s
  5. Life isn’t fair, it’s also unfair to berate a company for life’s little experiences it throws our way (fault or no fault doesn’t matter). Accurascale products should reach you in perfect condition. After that the buyer takes responsibility for the product. The way I see it is a toy train is one of those things that falls between an electrical product and a very nice ornament. If an electrical device goes wrong you should be able to expect parts to repair it. However if you drop an ornament that’s just plain tough. So if the workings of the model were damaged then I would think parts would be available to help the customer. But the body is not one of those. It now boils down to how can it be fixed, Accurascale might be able to provide a body from a returned failed model depending. Personally my first port of call, cheek dose work sometimes as in it not a new part but will get the model fixed. Worth ago. Obviously it’s would be a second hand body and not necessarily Accurascale preferred response, but as long as the customer is willing to accept a second hand part Accurascale may be willing to sell. (If and when one becomes available) Otherwise it’s probably going to be eBay. Or dare, I say it DIY Jobbie.
  6. Maybe they have ran out, did you ask if they could get one in? Maybe Accurascale just used an image from the manufacturing process, for the parts list thinking people wouldn’t damage the body of a £200+ model because they’d be carful. Keeping small parts in little boxes is one thing, complete bodies is another and would soon start to take up a of space. Considering the numbers they might have to keep. They do like to keep the customer happy so maybe in the future ask again but don’t bet on it has I’d rather think setting up the production line for just a few of one livery would make the cost more than it’s worth for them. In the meantime watch eBay. now sometimes (lesson learned through life) it’s what you ask. Done it with Bachmann and other shops/producers mainly bikes but other shops too. . And goes something like this. ‘ have you got a spare xxx and the customer service goes and looks in a box comes back and says no’ have you a second hand pre used one and quite often a different answer is given. You ask for a second hand one and are saying you’re happy to receive a none perfect one for your money. Don’t know if there’s a law or something saying they can’t offer it straight off but it can work. I got a two car DMU body for half the price of a new spare. Worth ago?
  7. I disagree, most people are happy with their models, yes there’s a chance a model might be a lemon. But this can happen with any electrical purchase. it’s up to the buyer to check it’s ok. There’s a warranty to help cover this. Also an occasional run is always a good idea. I mean you wouldn’t buy a car or in my case a motorcycle and then stick it in the garage for five years. then just decide to go for a ride and be surprised if it doesn’t work. so I’d suggest find a friend club or get a yard of track and a cheap transformer. Have a play and I hope you find that the model runs perfectly.
  8. That could be said about any model made by any manufacturer, and becomes mute for that reason. All this comment does is make this problem tiresome. Which isn’t helpful to the individuals that maybe having a problem that needs help with. Yes some people may be having an issue. But most are not It also gets worse when the same people are repeating there problems on multiple platforms rather then contacting Accurascale themselves and hopefully finding a solution. If I was a sceptical person I would think there’s an agenda afoot.
  9. Has a LMS fan, and seeing the numbers Accurascale produces of the class 37 then no not really. Many of the main classes are to a decent level for a model on a layout at 3ft, we can forget the Pacific’s and black 5s the 8f is a model which needs a update but really it’s a 8f seen one seen them all. Some locos did have modifications that went to the continent in the World War II and later came back. these were seen in the docks awaiting overhauls but if memory serves me the modifications were soon removed. Either way no use for a Pre War modeller. Bachmann’s jubilee isn’t a bad model needs tender and boiler variations however I’ve done some modelling and see little point in asking for something I’m not sure I’d buy. jinty could be better, but would be a hard sell considering the amount of Bachmann’s kicking around. for me it’s the workhorses LNWR and L&YR please 0-6-0s and 4-4-0s(L&YR). But I can’t see them selling enough for Accurascale to bother with. a decent model of the Caledonian & L&YR pugs would be nice, say to scale. Obviously the Fowler and Stanier 2-6-2t might sell, but enough don’t know. oh the Fowler 2-6-4t is terrible considering the price Hornby are asking. Now thinking about it I might just stick my hand in my pocket for 2 or 3. standard cab, cut away cab and don’t forget the limousine. Plus the livery options LMS Crimson LMS black BR black and the one of BR green. Ohh I’m oh excited now! Dear Accurascale a Fowler 2-6-4t please I’ll have 3 LMS plus a green one.
  10. Well has I’ve just ordered a twin pack of the Revolution KSA Rover cube vans in Malcom livery. How about a Accurascale class 66 in the Malcom livery to match.
  11. The problem with starting with, say adding glazing is where do you stop. You say glazing. Hornby might say ok, then someone says sprung buffers it’s not going to add much or better lining, five poll motors etc etc. before you know where you are you getting into what ruined what was a good idea which could have worked well, design clever. where it was a good idea but didn’t tick all the different boxes that everyone wanted. it you want glazing, get out some PVA and a craft knife, clear plastic do some, modelling. Nothing hard about it and it might start you of down a new road that you enjoy.
  12. Another thing Accurascale has in it’s favour well two really, it’s early warning of models to be produced and it’s credit system, Bachmann says X is coming on the next boat from china and I have anything from a few weeks to couple of months to get £4-500 together. Accurascale I have 12-18 months, I can then decide which I want and pay in manageable instalments. I have to say I have never had so many fully paid pri-orders in my life…. thinking about maybe the credit system is a bad thing! oh yes some Units would be nice,
  13. In the long run it might make repairs cheaper but the manufacturing cost would increase and so would the RRP. The caned motor was brought in to make things cheaper. Also would an open frame motors work with a Decoder? I know they can but often I’ve seen people state that the old models draw more current and so you need a slightly better decoder. Is this just because of the older motors or would a new open frame motor be the same. I don’t know . but I’m sure some better informed bods will answer this.
  14. It’s become more of a wish list nowadays, just wondering will the new catalog have blank pages? to place stickers in when the second announcement is made later in the year.
  15. Well that was exciting, though knitting, needles, is interesting. Won’t be getting one. Over to Accurascale and Bachmann for the rest of the year.
  16. I have to say I’m no expert on dcc I pretty much plug and play when it comes to dcc decoders. I found out the hard way buying a none sound fitted 37 and whacking in a spare decoder I had didn’t work for me. Has in all the lights didn’t, which was one reason I bought a AS 37. I have bought a Sound decoder and trash speaker since and after lowering one volume to the suggested number. It sounds great and runs very smoothly. However I do remember my planking plug dip switches were not all in the same position when first tested on DC and was wondering if this might have been the problem. just to be fair to Accuracale, I have since paid for 2 next batch 37s a class 50 a 66 and a 31 from rails. So I might have had a bit of learning curve but not put of in any way.
  17. Have you moved the dip switches on the blanking plate? In the photo they all look to be set to the same position. I’m sure mine were not when i first got it.
  18. Well if the ship arrives has stated mid January, I would guess by the time the models have been unloaded checked by customs transported to the warehouse and then dispatched to the shops. It’s going to be early and more likely mid February before we get them. Which isn’t to bad, I need to make the last payment to Rails tomorrow for 56 023. But with a 4 week wait, gives the opportunity to upgrade the model to a full sound one. Tough choice.
  19. Lovely to see all of them but unlikely to buy any. A LMS sentinel 7109 would be nice though.
  20. Thank you for your answer, now all I have to do is make a decision which model to order next, a second 50 or a second 55. Tough call nearly has bad has having to pick between Bacon or sausage for my Saturday morning sandwich.
  21. The class 50 is one of those engines I have often looked at over the many years of modelling but never got. do I need one? Well not when I was more steam oriented. But, now I’ve gone more modern 50014 Warsprite did look very tempting with its black roof. So have ordered the full fat version. would the white roof 50021 Rodney have been seen together? And Am I right it’s only the sound fitted models that have the working roof van. 2 Warship names how could you go wrong.
  22. Is it just me or does the bottom half of the cab front look to flat compared to the real one. And not sure about the top of the quarter light looks wrong but it’s still an engineering prototype so hopefully will be sorted.
  23. Well that’s nice to know they will be making a match truck too it will help the sales for those people lacking the confidence to build scratch built truck. The question now is should I buy one to go with my other Crain, I’m tempted, are two Crains parked in a siding too much.
  24. Sorry you’re correct my fault. I did try a couple hm7000 decoders using my dcc controller but didn’t get on with it. That’s why I got confused. The CVs is quite an important part for many to make it worthwhile. Which I think will be the deal breaker with this. Oh a question often asked so might as well though not that bothered myself will it have train detection?.
  25. Well it depends where you are coming from, the HM7000 needs you to have a controller, and you need its hm7000 decoders. this just use the decoders you already have. ok I admit £400 to buy it too. I don’t think you need a PC the way I’ve read it. just wondering if it would work on my wireless drawing pad.
