    EBay madness

    Bit of a bargain I’d say, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185573225572?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=oSc--yvOTdu&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Sas8ngTwS8u&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  2. That’s a lovely model, always liked the Claughton. So after reading you progress I’ve just bought a Jidenco kit of EBay. I’m thinking of using a Hornby Patriot chassis possibly re-wheel depending. Mainly to build a dcc ready kit. But will have to check everything out when the kit arrives.
  3. Good point I forgot about comet, mind 247 is useful for the Red5’s. I’ve done all the chopping of black5s I am ever going to do myself. The only new Hornby black5 I’m interested in is Caprotti.
  4. 247 developments do Stanier domes, though their site seems to be not loading the header titles at the moment! two sets of tender? I take it you mean transfer. HMRS Transfers or fox or Modelmasters but I read they’re not being very reliable at the moment for some people and I’m been waiting for tank transfers for some time.
  5. the thing with locomotives is what is the identity of a locomotive? The boiler? Obviously not. Then is it the main frames well they wore out and got replaced. maybe it’s just a builders plate and a number in the end. Only that doesn’t work either. Some black5’s ran with two builders plates one on the smoke and another on the frame extension at certain times. Meaning there’s locomotives running around with out a builders plates. In the end the only way to know what any locomotive looked like at anyone point is to have a photograph of it on a set date. Preferably from multiple angles to catch all the details
  6. Make a small L bracket and solder it, or search eBay and save the search it will then alert you when the part is put up for auction/sale.
  7. 45151 wearing both domed and domless covers, she is obviously a 1st ring top feed boiler the pipe gives it away, that and the text. Maybe this has given the impression of a double dome to some.
  8. Wasn’t there a company called blue diamond that started off using bluetoooth about ten years ago. Their chip could also connect to a battery to power them inside the model. Think they’re still going and if memory serves they teamed up with Bachmann USA over something. Their decoders were quite big at the time.
  9. Is there a ‘&’ button for accessories functions? I have a single wired up one a dcc accessories decoder the signal has two arms numbered 1 and 2. Is there any way to send a single to move both at the same time?
  10. Not much real modelling done this week, but have been playing with a new HM7000 decoder, it’s not bad but I think it’s going to end up in a black5 or something. 2 cylinder Royal is just plain wrong. Also managed to get the signal controller to talk to my gauge master controller only taken ages. Lights to wire up another, Off course the princess Royal decides to derails of shot when videoing, you can hear it stop.
  11. Has anyone played around with the CVs on one of these decoders for princess class? Trying to make sound like a four cylinder loco! Was advised by (Hornby) to play with cv 29 add 16 to it. It’s done some thing, but it’s not got four cylinders. Or should I just bit the bullet and buy a full fat decoder.
  12. Well as the Electrons don’t flow in one direction, I’ll carry on calling it AC. we will just have to disagree.
  13. Have I missed something, dcc is AC and DC well that’s DC. Originally I thought it was mentioned that you may be able to use the Accessory feed. But always thought that was a consent current. I freely admit I hadn’t taken much notice of Bluetooth, until last week I decided to get a decoder for one of my models and thought I’d give it a go. Managed to download the wrong app and messed things right up! But thanks to some people at Hornby, got it working, I have to admit I’m quite impressed. Working two phones at the same time isn’t easy. Here’s a quick look, told you I was impressed, the first run. Yes I know it’s the princess Coronation sound file, what can I say I was impatient. I will load the correct file when one is available, close enough for now though.
  14. Try Yesterday tv, it might be available on a catch service or similar
  15. When I watch the tv program when they covered the Black 5 some of the CAD work was shown with all the differences. Also they did many variations on older model. I would guess they have all the variations covered all three boilers types (not counting the Caprotti) all chimneys both buffers beams types muiltiple tenders smoke box doors, 2 loco wheel base lengths covered, and all the other little differences what make the class a nightmare to model. I would not be surprised if they have both the high and low footplate caprotti ready too. which leaves 4/4767? I would like to think this one is possible. But Hornby didn’t do 46205 with her unique valve gear support bracket so I’m not holding out for this one.
  16. The paints turned up for the coach though the colour on the real thing doesn’t have changed in light. Work so far a little touch of paint needed to where one colour drops below the dividing line but quite happy with it so far.
  17. Are you Jamr from the Hornby site by chance? anyway we are talking about the kit I take it not the Heljan model? Because that is going to depend on how the builder built it. Any thing from two to four screws at a guess but would need photos to see what’s going on. The central body is probably just kept in place by pegs of some description. How ever it might not be able to be removed with the coal bunker and water tank attached to the chassis. Once the coal bunker is bolted to its chassis on mine the boiler/cab can not be removed. one day I might have to finish mine I had it being towed be the Heljan model I have. But the motors need to be fitted. Built on two Comet 2-6-4t chassis cut to a £2-6-0.
  18. Been doing a bit of work on the APOC tank, rather enjoying this little kit. The ends and tanks are aren’t fixed to the chassis yet but it’s showing promise the models seems to be built for P4. / EM so will have to get a set of Axles to get it on its wheels. But other than that the model gose together relatively easily.
  19. Ordered the L&YR paint for the coach, 3 times! Twice to receive a email saying the paint is out of stock so went to phoenix paints in the end only to be told the paint is out of stock and will be shipped when it’s back in. A few days hopefully. So did the roof detail which I was putting off but it seemed to go okay. There’s supposed to be pipes linking the gas lamps to the two parallel pipes. Though those are so small I decided to skip them I don’t think it’s too noticeable and I didn’t want to risk melting to casting
  20. Lovely work on the U1, it’s definitely an impressive looking model, and worth the effect.
  21. Well waiting for the transfers paid for this time! The weather has improved enough to do some work in the conservatory. So cracked out the soldering iron. The L&YR coach had been looking at me all winter. It just didn’t set quite right so I untacked the body and rebuilt it. Added the grab rails. Today I built the inside and given it an under coat need to find the correct top coat for it. Looks much better. Though not sure about the grab rails but the hole where there. I had been looking for a twin gas tank wagon to build found a APOC twin tank so ordered that instead. After researching the gas tank it seems only the GWR twin is available in OO. Looking at the drawings and reading the books the LMS twin seems to be built on a 12 wheel base LNWR chassis. So I’m currently put the gas twin on hold until I find a LNWR chassis to use for a scratch build project. On the plus side we’ll look for bits for it on the Wizard site I might have bought a L&YR 20ton coal wagon.
  22. Well I found why the transfers for the tank wagons haven’t turned up I forgot to agree to the terms, so I went to the website and there they where still in the shopping cart, so ordered so transfers for a LNER Horsebox at the same time. Been a week of finishing off. The pan wagon is done, the L&YR Brake van as see work to full strip and re paint into LMS livery and even re-painted a LNER Horse Box it was in BR livery. All need coupling’s fitted but for a change I actually have these in stock plus glue so there’s a turn up for the books. Oh yea new buffers are on their way for both the brake van and Horse box.
  23. I found a link for the pan wagon which I’ll pop here which might be useful to someone. My wagon needs a little more work but, it runs freely and should be fine a layout wagon. Need to add some weight and a touch up on the paint here and there.
  24. I haven’t a clue, it’s so long since I bought it I’ve forgotten. I do have an image in a book somewhere when I find it I’ll post the information. I’ll have a look at the LRM site when I have a few minutes. For some reason I thought I’d ordered a glass carrying wagon form Falcon but not to worry will have to go hunting for one now.
