  1. Hi Chas, thank you, no the model kit more (Aid really) is has it comes. Challenge it is the Axle carrier plates are fun! No aid in lining them up at all. I would have thought they soldered to the underside of the top plates and the vertical plates of the wagon. But no that’s to easy, the wheels can’t lift the wagon of the ground. They’re soldered on the vertical plate only about 3mm from the top and if you solder the front of the plate to the back of the buffer beam you can’t get the wheels in! One image might show you better Sorry soldering a bit messy. But can’t get in to clean it up without the buffer beam or side plates dropping of as there only butt joints and like to fall of with any heat. has for the tankers might have to get some Stop Oil protesters and stick them to the tankers
  2. Managed a little modelling over the last few days, six tankers are now ready for transfers hopefully they’ll turn up next week get those six finished before doing the rest. In the meantime I found a LNWR/LMS chemical pan wagon hiding in the cupboard. Bought this before Falcon Brass went south for the second time. The instructions are pretty pointless. I have yet to fit the wheels, but need to make sure I get everything I the right place so it runs correctly. No marks or tabs to aid in this so should be interesting to say the least.
  3. Hi Chas, thank you yes it’s quite a nice little model, it well be finished one day. when the weather warms up I’ll be able to work in the conservatory, I have a feeling any wheels that fit will probably have smaller then one 1/8 axles. So will need a new chassis cutting, no cutting metal in the house. on tanker front, I’ve fitted some brass ladders to the first three well waiting for transfers to arrive. In the meantime I started the next three built the same way but have ditched the buffers that come with the kit in favour of some white metal ones much better I think. I think the first ones my have to have the white metal buffers fitted now they do look so much better.
  4. Oh crumbs I missed the cab front! Do you need to do the wheel splasher? Which are a pain! Or was it different on the extended tank engines.
  5. Well the tank wagon is well on the way, need to connect the diagonal brace wires to the chassis and fit a brass ladder, the top platform might need to be meddled with, but all in all a model has shaped up nicely. Real Image from bluebell railway I believe.
  6. Dose any one have Knowledge on upgrading the old Mainline/ Hornby 14ton tank wagons I bought 3 Cambrian open chassis. Just popped on the frame under the main line cradle for now.
  7. Well typical modeller started of doing one thing not finished of course and then went onto 5 different jobs, the Armed train will be finished but it needs a couple more wagons, not to mention the blue and green don’t look correct after finding some better images taken by a friend. So I went and cheered myself and bought 8 new coaches, has you do one to get next month, and on order a loco when it’s available 6222. I did some modelling fed up with empty wagons going round I thought I’d try making some tarpaulins trying different papers Andrex (green one ) some packing paper free with what ever I bought and Rizla which seems to look the best. Though very tricky to work with when wet. Weathered a few wagons and dug out two Bachmann short pipe wagons, and bashed them into the LMS tube wagons just need painting
  8. I did a Mainline Royal Scot body to a New Patriot DCC ready chassis. The body fits but you need a little plasticard to lever the body it sits a little low on the cab end, not hard to do also the screw and thread to lock the body on doesn’t line up. But making a new one isn’t really troublesome. I melted a small nut into a piece of plastic rod using the soldering iron and glued that in place. Well using a new bolt. Pretty much it. If you want to go further I fitted Markets Royal Scot wheels. The chassis wheel slots need opening up to allow the axles to fit. you need to get the Mainline Axle gear cog of the old axle open up the ID to 1/8 using a 1/8 reamer don’t over do this! Some 1/8 felt washers come in handy to take out some of the slop once the wheels are fitted. Also used the Markits cranks not cheap but saved a lot of fiddly work. why I did this you may ask? The rims are better shape and the Royal Scot wheel balance weights are different to both the Jubilee and Patriot. the finished loco
  9. Bachmann do quarterly announcements this is the first of the year. There are 3 more to go. Bachmann has been digging its self out of a huge back log which had built up over many years. Maybe something is in remainder of the backlog still to come. Or something that is being worked on behind closed door. No manufacturer can please everyone every time. But Bachmann tend to cover most areas much better than other companies especially where the workhorses are concerned. Hornby Likes the big and flashy, Heljan likes their Diesels, Accurascale is making headway into the BR freight plus some lovely locos.
  10. There goes the toys out of the perambulator
  11. Well for a steam fan it’s dull! Nothing new. But Bachmann have been working through a very large back log for a few years now and must be 3/4 way done by now. (He says hopefully) so to be fair Bachmann may have a lot of goodies their working on but just not ready to announce. In the meantime I can try and work out do I need a A4 and Coronation coach set (not my region) but would be nice to go with the Coronation Scot set I now have.
  12. Did I miss an engine? Watched the Hornby show on the TV, at the end it states what’s happening next time on the show. Showing what believe is a SR B4 class 0-4-0t.
  13. Locomotion? And no pesky break gear to worry about either bonus.
  14. Been reading you posts for a little while now, and find your posts very interesting. one question comes to mind and sorry if I have missed the answer if it has already been covered. How often do the wagons and coaches get a full repaint? Is there a set time or more has and when required time permitting.
  15. Well the wheels didn’t fit so need to source smaller wheels for the bus. In the meantime I got sidetracked. Bought some tanks and things to go with some Bachman LMS war flats. Will get some trucks and artillery pieces to add to some other wagons. The models are resin and a bit of a so & so to paint. Maybe but some kits next time would make life easier. But live and learn.
  16. Good point sorry it was in the uk probably England, as it was either one of those story’s at the end of the news or a tropical news program after the Main news.
  17. I was just wondering if anyone remembered a news story of a dad buying his son a tank engine to restore, the plan was they would restore it together the son was mid teens I think. it was brought to their home and if memory is correct sat on the lawn. Can’t remember the class maybe an industrial pretty sure it was standard gauge. Dose anyone know if they ever achieved the project and what happened to the loco. It was probably broadcast in the early to mid 1980’s
  18. I have to agree and see theirs more likely, However I went for jubilee because of the smaller boiler size slightly but it is there. With that in mind the whole chassis would fit into the other classes. Where a new Rebuilt pat/Scot chassis might not fit into a Jubilee unless Hornby feel like being nice or have plans themselves. Has for Bachmann will they join the TT market? I hope so but not sure and it could be years even if they do. Unless Bachmann has made a statement they I’m unaware of.
  19. Well being a hardened OO modeler with 70 locomotives, the TT120 isn’t my first choice for now. however I have stated if not on this topic maybe on another site I have ordered the Easterner and the full HST in BR blue as a trial. With the future in mind the loft might become too much in years to come. TT would obviously give more options to a set space in a bed room. if Hornby where to announce a Jubilee in the coming years this would increase the likelihood of me switching to TT all the more. Has soon as we have the Jubilee the possibility of building a new loco body possibly the tender opens up some very nice options. From the Jubilee we can get the parallel Scot’s, Pats rebuilt Scot’s and Pat’s British Legion and the Fruy. throw in a jinty and a 2-6-4 t and we’re of to a half decent LMS/BR(LMR) layout.
  20. Something L&YR would be nice, I don’t care if it’s just a break van! But something anything please for the love of god!!!! A retooling of the pug wouldn’t be unloved so it’s usable on a dcc layout. Though the Barton Wright ironclad would be a low blow as I’ve not long built the LRM kit. However I think the 8f has to be a a no brainier following on from the other retools of LMS stock. with the Fowler tank as an outside chance,
  21. Dooh! I see sorry Chard, learn you to suck eggs meant it was not.
  22. X’ = ft and x” = inches. Single speech marks is ft ‘ double speech marks equals inch “
  23. Thank you for your hard work putting the list together, ✔️ most of the LMS and all the L&YR models hopefully they won’t release them all in one go otherwise I’ll have to sell my dad again, I’ve only just managed to buy him back.
  24. Priorities, well that’s simply sales! If they think it will sell well it is going to get pushed. We don’t know the mind set at Bachmann, they could have lots of wonderful goodies planned but are keeping them quiet for now. I’m sure in time something will come along that will keep you awake at night with excitement. Personally I’m still holding out hope for a L&YR model a nice 0-6-0 please. as the only thing available to modern standards is the 2-4-2t. It is the season to be jolly after all! so be happy for those that will be thrilled with the latest announcement. Our time will come, now where’s the rum.

    EBay madness

I wouldn’t worry if it’s the same guy then he’s done streamlined Duchess of Hamilton before. Maybe the NRMA are not telling us something.
