  1. Nearly missed this post Bob as we go to another page but I've never seen any kind of fence in this area of Brent. The goods shed of course is in the wrong place anyway but you knew that anyway. The Geen kit when built is lighter than I thought.Scales at 4 oz or 125 grams.
  2. Winter is on the way as there was a chilly feeling at Brent as I took these photos. The Geen fruit van seems popular,so we see it with NA based pannier 3796 shunting the goods shed this aft. RTP items in abundance help to bring the scene to life with items from Harburn and 10 Commandments used here.I do like those sacks in the wagon.I weather them all.I don't just open the packet and plonk them. The Ratio kit built goods shed is likely to be replaced one day with the correct one for Brent complete with crane but for now it has it's uses. In the distance eagle eyed viewers will notice no buffer stop. This was crushed in the fitting of a new backscene but Dave Franks tells me he's planning to release a new GWR version to his range soon. Several needed please.

Is that the price our friend Gostude would pay us to take it off his hands. It looks like it was left in a bonfire remains.

That would look superb on the front cover of the 2014 catalogue.

I've found another batch of Star photos, this time of 4062 'Malmesbury Abbey' with a Hawksworth tender and early emblem and also with a Collett tender on a milk train.Very modellable. http://www.steampicturelibrary.com/no-4062-malmesbury-abbey/print/698354.html http://www.steampicturelibrary.com/no-4062-malmesbury-abbey/print/698265.html
  6. You've given me food for thought with that scenario. Those figures are a really nice quality. How about something like this. http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrls832.htm This is too late for Edwardian but I have the ingredients to model it. http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrls159.htm This is what I really want though. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/75/entry-8307-short-trains-with-a-twist/ http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/75/entry-7727-short-trains-for-short-layouts/

To be honest I don't usually check the number of spokes because I assume they are right.I've just found a photo of 4015 'Knight of St John' and 4014 'Knight of the Bath' on the Steam website.Guess how many spokes on the bogie ? http://www.steampicturelibrary.com/no-4015-knight-of-st-john/print/550389.html http://www.steampicturelibrary.com/star-class-no-4014-knight-of-the-bath/print/8306809.html
  8. I'd say so but look at this photo find shewing a white roof around 1930.Proved wrong again. http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrls159.htm

Someone was nearly seeing stars then....
  10. Oh yes please Mikkel.I'd love to use your stock on here if you're offering...... Yes they would be perfect.Waiting on Brent platform as City of Truro pulls in with 'your' short train.Magic.
  11. I painted my Hornby version in the colour roof dirt from Railmatch.Rooves were never white in steam days.
  12. A fabulous post Mikkel. Those castings look first class. If you place the Finching sisters as being in their early 60s in 1947 then I reckon they would have been born perhaps in 1887.In your period that would make them 17 years old.The castings could only be used for their mother and I like them all.Are the castings made of pewter ?

    EBay madness

I never thought I'd see the words rare and centenary in the same listing title. They are blood and custard though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-LIMITED-EDITION-RAKE-GWR-CENTENARY-COACHES-EX-R2024-TRAIN-PACK-RARE-/221309710993?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3387163291
  14. Well I was planning on shewing something new but it hasn't materialized so how about a brown vehicle instead.Followers of this thread will know I have an affection for them and the shirtbutton really suits them as shewn here on my David Geen kit built Y3 fruit van.Posed beside, is a Bachmann toad that's had the new Shawplan Laserglaze fitted after successfully getting it apart without breaking. Just needs some proper weathering applied. The transfers on the fruit are from Cambridge Custom and are more a yellow colour than the usual gold from HMRS etc.Comments welcome.

Most of us mere mortals don't possess your skill Coachmann, with either bow pen or transfers.

I think it was Bobwyer in post 344 who's the only one to have had 4003 so far but no photos unfortunately.

Thanks for that info KGV.It must have been a small delivery as both The Stationmaster and myself both ordered over the Christmas period last year and have heard nothing.Getting it for Christmas should be possible. It sounds like Geoff Davies is happy with them.

Thanks for the photos Rob.I think the no news on 4003 from Steam is good because I'm hoping that something is being done re bogies. I wonder if the next batch of 4018 will be right in that department.

No need to feel uncomfortable Tom but my above post was borne out of frustration more than anything.I was in my local model shop today and I saw the recent Hornby shunters truck, nearly there but not quite Hornby. There's always something.Smokebox number on 5011,B4 bogies on a b set.Now these bogies. I don't know the answer.Vote with my wallet. No, as Old Dudders says it's the only 4mm rtr Star we're going to get. They can make up for it with the release of some relevant GWR coaches.

What a cracking photo Rob.Can you recreate it please using that magic wand of yours.

Very true Ian but I wonder how much song and dance there would be if it had happened on a bogie for a model of Mallard or Flying Scotsman assembled by those Chinese/Indian/wherever workers.
