  1. Newton Abbot had three of these 72xx class in my period although only one is modellable in G W R livery with Hornby's current guise as the other two were 7220 and 7250.I think they were mainly used on the coal trains to and from Kingswear but I have a photo of them on Dainton.
  2. Very nice touch. What transfers did you use in the end ?
  3. A sunny but cold afternoon in the South Hams as a down train of oil tanks heads west to Plymouth. Recent weeks have seen this stock receive Smiths three links and are being pulled by recently finished 7200 in post war G W R livery. More anon.

Sorry I missed this Rich.I honestly don't know as yet.I have 4018 on order and might do that one.It would be great to get another Collett 4000g tender for it too.

Well the morning has been spent running in 4003 and here she is on the Swindon test plant rolling road. Something's arrived for the fitters......
  6. Well I promised you some eye candy for the Finching sisters and here they are in the shape of a pair of new fitters Richard Rouncewell, brother of George seen earlier in the thread and Tommy Traddles. I was taken by the work of The Purple Primer here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/78576-the-purple-primer-painted-railway-figures/ and as he had them in stock I quickly purchased them for this scene.Dart Castings figures.Very nice too.
  7. Are you sure you weren't Charles Dickens in another life Mikkel.A fabulous piece of narration and modelling.I like the MT buffer stop by the way.

Not really I've still got to change the bogie wheels as Hornby are happy to sit on their hands in oblivion. They might redeem themselves with some relevant coaching stock announced on the 16th.

What tool did you use to pull the wheels Keith ? A pair of pliers perhaps.
  10. Shall I rename and number 4003 then.Invalidate the limited edition.

    4. Castle

      Castle

I will be lightly doing this to a 6023 model myself - well, it saves a paint job... Perhaps there is a market in second hand limited edition certificates?

    Hornby Star Class

Well I've had my 4003 out for inspection and apart from the well mentioned niggles and cock ups it looks fabulous.I couldn't get near this with a kit built offering but it does look stunning.Nice touch on the rear of the tender with a works plate. Can you get an etch for these ? Already connected. Is the norm from Hornby now as my Castle wasn't. I'm in two minds whether to keep her as 4003 or to rename and invalidate the limited edition aspect of her.I bought some Gibson bogie wheels but might change them on 4018 first to see how I get on.I'll give her a spin on Brent over the weekend ,has anyone got some toplights I could borrow. Overall not too bad.
  12. Now you know I haven't got the correct rolling stock for that combination David.Mr Gibson was on hand to supply me with the correct bogies for rectification but the fitters apparently don't have experience in this department. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

    Hornby Star Class

I've received my Steam Lode Star so they are on the way to people who ordered in January.
  14. Ah the beloved Millwall.Their 'fans' were the ones who caved in the window of a Collett coach of mine after a game at Home Park. Definitely not a footbridge as I don't know what I was thinking with wanting that Hagley sponge cake version.Made by Mary Berry for Hornby.
  15. No problem and I'll like any photo taken on Dainton so if you have some more post away.Very modellable.
  16. It was some joyriders and it ended up in the Kingsbridge dump.Talking of the sisters there will be a bit of eye candy arriving at the weekend for them.
  17. Very clever David but 1368 will only be made redundant if Heljans model is up to scratch.2015 according the guy on their stand.I hope they don't copy 'your' photo for the lettering as it's back to front. Nice idea and well crafted too. remember the no buses on the bridge thingy! That old clique. I saw a very nice Routemaster on The Gresley Beat complete with driver and passengers at the weekend.Even their vehicles are top class.

    EBay madness

Not madness as such but does anyone know this van's diagram number. It's anew one to me. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-GWR-PARCEL-VAN-WEATHERED-SUPER-ITEM-/370952783645?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item565e82471d
  19. None as yet but I made a kit from Scalelink for an Austin 7 ruby yonks ago but it went missing sometime back.I don't think there's much rtr available for the late 40's.I would also like some period buses like Tally Ho or Western National.
  20. Is there no bounds to your talents.Eclectic as ever.Superb whatever you do.
