  1. Hi Rob

Your King is similar to one I converted years ago if it has an open frame motor the magnet it could be the magnet failing if there is nothing else visible to be a problem I finaly put a MW05 5 pole slot car motor in mine it went like a Smokey Joe I reduced the gearing to 40-1 to make it behave.

    81C

I've had it running on my rolling road this morning and its ok.I have a problem elsewhere meaning it won't be run and its all my fault.I'm embarrassed to say what it is. :secret:

  2. Hi Robin, love the new photos, particularly seeing your King chassis, wonder why it wont perform properly. Presumably you have tried the motor outside of the chassis? Maybe just a duff motor?

I didn't build the chassis but I'm sure its not the motor.Someone with more knowledge of these things would find where the problem lies.

  3. Anyway its time to see some more mundane action but nice all the same as small prarie 45xx class 4540 brings some empty wagons onto the mainline. These are especially for fellow rmweb member 46444 who is currently modelling the Teign Valley branch amongst other projects.

Is that R C Riley I see in the first photo or perhaps its Peter Gray. :)

  4. Well I've had lots of requests for one so here goes but it aint pretty I'm afraid. Its my old 70s moulding over the Comet chassis with SE Finecast front bogie. It needs full power just to move her slowly so somethings not right with 6002 'King William 2nd'

What I'd give for a newly tooled brand new version.

What will the sisters make of this brute then ?

  5. Rob, I'm enjoying the picture show  and is there a class of GWR loco's you don't have a model of?

But referring to your post #430 regarding the disappearing lane maybe my Hintock post #151 might give you some ideas.

There's lots of classes I don't have John and thanks for your tip and I've a similar trick used on the road leading off my overbridge at the station.I need something similar for where my piece of glass is placed as that doesn't work well at all.

  6. Finching sisters on seeing 5049.

"Oh look dear, it was that splendid Earl once again. Must have used the turntable at the south end of North Road so that it didn't have to visit the shed at Laira."

"Yes dear, I thought it was, but I was expecting a King this time. I wonder if it is indisposed? I do hope it isn't damaged in any way as I do like their huge bogies with those lovely springs and they make such a lovely roaring sound as they come under that bridge. Oh well, never mind; shall we take tea and some saffron cake now?

    Quack

They can buy saffron cake from Joseph Aulds general store on the corner of Station Road. I've bought some myself, its nice. :mosking:

The sisters might get a shock later....

  7. Yeah, but a different game then, where Fergie managed to be successful in four decades as a manager winning major trophies and breaking the Glasgow dominance in Scotland and having to change his managerial style somewhat over the years whilst assembling several great and some nearly great sides over the years, Cloughie had a decent run on and off for 15-20 years, whilst Cloughie was good Fergie was better. 13 (16 if you count Scottish) 2 > 2 2..........

    And who took Forest down?

Yes he did unfortunately and it affected his health too but he did take a division two side to European champions in a short time. The equilvalent feat now would be if SAF became manager of say Bolton and did the same in two years time. :mosking: Who would you say as an United fan was his best signing ?

  8. The BBC have just announced David Moyes will be the next Man Utd manager.

Was the announcement made in time added on. :mosking: Seriously though I think he'll do well for them.

  9. As I mentioned ,I'm upgrading the far end of Brent. On my latest photos of the curve I have an old Wills kit built bridge. At the moment I have a mirror placed in the gap where an imaginary lane disappears.Unfortunately this doesn't work and looks bad from some angles.I think a photo image on card cut to shape might work better.Any ideas here please.I've searched Google images to no avail as yet.A lane with overhanging trees might be nice.

  10. Can anyone tell me who we are getting as manager next year when (as I assume) David Moyes goes to Old Trafford?

I have a suspicion that it might be Martinez. What do you  reckon Dreyfus?

How about Rafa Benitez as he'll be free at the end of the season. :mosking: Ex Liverpool too.

  11. Ok here goes head over the parapet time. ;) Ex SR rebuilt Merchant Navy class 35023 'Holland-Afrika Line' trundles through Brent on a Plymouth bound oil tank train . :O

Sorry I missed the engine. It was too quick for my lens.

Here's what really was pulling that oil tank train from post 363  It wasn't a Merchant Navy after all.Don't tell 2Manyspams.You all guessed that though. :jester:
