  1. I'm not one to plan but it turns out the H57 was the restaurant coach used on the Plymouth to Liverpool cross country train that Mallard60022 mentioned. So I just need the rest of the rake now. A bit of luck does no harm.
  2. A few more to shew the coaches more closely... Comet Collett H57 restaurant attached to Bachmann Collett using MM gangways.

I think Mike [The Stationmaster] alluded to earlier in the thread that Steam themselves are very discerning and being in Swindon I wouldn't expect anything else. So if they aren't happy with them it will probably go back to China.Lets wait and see the finished article before a judgement is made.
  4. A Glasgow kiss perhaps but seriously though great modelling.
  5. A few more of 6814 now with added coaches. We were talking earlier about the MM gangways and here I'm using their product B4 on my Comet kitbuilds including my H57 restaurant coach although I think that the gap needs reducing considerably by trimming the amount of folds.
  6. That free Hatchette Fordson tractor isn't as nice as my Springside kitbuilt one. [tongue in cheek]

Yes we've been here before with the 42xx/72xx and their packaging.I guess it was good to get it from the horses mouth though so to speak.
  9. It worked for me and I left them to soak in a bowl overnight.Very supple on removing and not brittle at all.

If that's tastefully I'd hate to see his tasteless version.

Some might say its sacrilege with a L/E but could I use the Steam limited edition 4003 'Lode Star' with no pipes to rename to 4012 'Knight of the thistle' as it stands.Waiting for Hornby to do the correct combination might take forever. http://www.steampicturelibrary.com/star_class_no_4012_knight_of_the_thistle_at_teignmouth_1925/print/8293084.html
  12. I'm still waiting for Captain Kernow to get back to me but I think he has more pressing commitments than taking a few photos for me at the moment. The landscape will be turning autumnal soon so maybe 'we' should leave it to next year. I agree re.Modelmasters but I do like the fact GWR plates from 247 are in green so don't need painting if you use the distance piece and no lining is needed.
  13. I must admit I'm enjoying having my fiddle yard clear and taking these shots. Here we have Newton's favourite Grange 6814 'Enborne Grange' on a short train including my Comet kit built K42 van.The two different choc/cream liveries look a mismatch in these photos.Hey ho.
  14. Thanks very much. That explains why my ratings just shot up then. Good timing as well as I've just made an attempt at hiding my backscene join using a product found readily in a well known coffee shop starting with Star. Basically, I just glued some seamoss to a coffee stirrer and bent it to shape. Will add green scatter at a later date after I've fitted the backscene sheets. 6814 is on her way...
  15. Spurs gave me the greatest day out in London I've ever had in football.Wembley 87. As for Chelsea I remember them in the old second division when THEY had no money like us.
  16. Here's me thinking you were a Spurs fan Colin.
  17. He wasn't fit enough for England but starts today for Man Utd.Rooney.

In some ways and part of me is glad it hasn't been released yet.I'm yet to work out my renaming options for both of mine. Its a minefield even after reading this thread over and over again. Lode Star and Knight of The Grand Cross.

  23. 8750 class pannier 3796 trundles through Brent with a down coal train to Plymouth. Whilst 4547 departs with a train down the branch.
  24. I can think of a few championship teams who would beat England.Control was poor all over the pitch.Sloppy but got the point they went for.Roy's a bit negative me thinks.I hate the phrase doing a job .
