  1. looking pretty good so far, will only get better from now on. Regards the RF general markings on locos, didn't 60010 only carry them for its publicity photos in the Railfreight callender.
  2. Some very nice modelling and a great site. Very inspiring well done.
  3. I ve got a very rusty old bolt from the rack on the Snowdon mountain railway ( found on the trackbed next to the rack where a new bolt had been replaced ). I ve also got a rule book and a couple of class 150 drivers manuals and a Regional Railways sign about use of bicycle lockers. (don't ask) I used to have a complete semaphore home signal arm and the coloured end plate for a distant arm but unfortunately lost them in a house move.
  4. does that really matter as long as its creating new jobs for british people, You never know they may even use British steel aswell to cut down on import duty
  5. I would be interested in a pair of kits, I've been trying to build one for several years using old short Hornby MK3s, with networker cabs but it has stagnated at the moment.
  6. If the masters for any of the former Kitmaster/Airfix models didn't get passed on to Dapol then surely the rights for them would belong to Hornby now as they bought Airfix
  7. a 58 in Colas may not be as daft as you think, after all there are still 0ver 80% of them in exsistance and they would still be usable on british rails should the need require
  8. When I did do some American modelling I generally got Model Railroader for the details and infomation I needed.
  9. Bolden junction by Barrow model railway club, which I got to operate several times while at exhibitions with GCS/later R&M Quarries and Tonbridge West yard by Paul Wade, a layout I've spent many hours watching and drewling over along with its stock.
  10. Oh dear wallet overload I can find a use for several of those, have to start being really nice to SWMBO and write a grovel letter to Santa.
  11. Nothing mentioned about it on there web site. Many years ago I used to get my transfers from FMR before they became Fox transfers.
  12. When you do get round to doing more 143s and 144s will you do the original liveries as in T&W and Metro and are you still going to produce a center car for the 144?
  13. modelling this one could be interesting. possible future Bachmann collectors club model ?
  14. That looks like a very useful vehicle I can think of lots of possibilities based around that chassis and cab
  15. If you can get hold of a copy of the book (with extra supplement) British Railways Mark 1 Coaches by Keith Parkin and the HMRS there is a section in the supplement which gives a selection of train formations from all regions from 1951 to 1990. It also gives details of the coach numbers and loco used on each train.
  16. If you can get the chance there is a library of magazines at the NRM York, you may have to pre book to get into the library but they may be worth a try.
  17. EWS put the class 58s out to grass (up for disposal) several years ago, the vast majority of them found work on foreign shores on main land europe working various inferstructure projects. Alot of these projects are now nearing or have finished which means most of these locos are now once again sitting awaiting a furure, only now they are sitting in foreign yards. 24 of them are in northern France, 12 are in spain, 5 are here in britain and 9 have been scrapped and cut up. I find it a little ironic that the 58s finally found work abroad at the end of there working lives (possibly) when the original concept of them was as a possible export product for BREL. They may however get a new lease of life as they may yet be returned and overhauled by another operator if a need is identified due to the import regulations on new diesel engines.
  18. very nice however very expensive for a non powered unit, unfortunatley well out of my budget.
  19. nice looking layout , reminds me of Tees yard WRD.Try looking it up on Google images for some ideas for detail around the depot .
  20. and on the same basis it could be a 141
  21. Looks like a good starting point and sounds like it will be cheaper than a similar sized OO RTP model from certain other manufacturers, tempting to change scale
  22. Look at it like this it will no doubt arrive before the retooled Bachmann 158!!
  23. PWM650-PWM654, class 02, class 06, for locos a decent 142 or 156 dmu ,507, 508 emu warflat and warwell for wagons.
  24. Slightly off the thread but Hornby have taken the 87 out of the range but left the 86, then were is the sence in that . They surely should have pulled the 86 and left the 87 that way there isn't duplication between manufacturers. The Heljan 86 has faults but its to modern standards where as Hornby's 86 dates back to the 80s, no lights, no diecast chassis, no central can motor with flywheel and that over scale toy like pantograph. At least the 87 would mean no duplication, it was a little better detail wise and if they used the Lima style pantograph it wasn't actually a bad loco. If Hornby used there heads they could do a better version of the 92 also, class 60 chassis and cab interior/lights, the old Lima pantographs from the Lima 92, only real retooling would be new bogie sideframes. Now would be the best time to grab the market for OHEL with the introduction of Peco and Dapol's over head catenary systems people will start to think about building more models of electrified lines.
